Jim Palmer 2013 Topps Archives – Orange Day Glow!!!
When I first encountered this card on Ebay, I thought that the seller was just trying to be a little creative with the wording to draw buyers in since it was so close to the ‘Gold’ Archives cards.
But then I found another one, listed by another seller.
So, I began trying to find out what I was looking at. And my web reasearch led me to this:
2013 Archives ‘Day Glow’ cards are going to only be sold through the local card shops. Shops will have packs available for twenty-five cents per pack, but their availability will be limited and they may limit the number that each customer may purchase. Each pack will contain 5 cards, 4 base cards from the Archives set and 1 Day Glow card. The Day Glow cards are only being made of the 200 base cards from the Archives set. There is no print-run information available.
So, with that, I got really excited as this was indeed a unique card to go after.
So, I nabbed the Palmer. And now I have a few more to chase down too!!!
Here is the Palmer card:

Frank Robinson 2013 Panini Prizm
I picked up a few of these cards the other day; primarily of the guys that I am actively collecting.
While I normally am ok with a unique, and different look, I have to say that this metal, prizm look just does not do it for me.
What do you think??
Let me tell you that my scanner does not capture the card in the same light as the actual card. The real card is a lot shinier and has a metallic feel to its frame. The scan actually looks pretty good and much better than the original source of the scan…

1959 HEADLINE: Willie McCovey Makes His Debut With The Giants
On this day in 1959, Willie McCovey made his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
And I have to say that McCovey did pretty well in his debut – he went 4-for-4 while collecting 2 triples and 2 singles. Most importantly, the Giants beat the Pirates by a score of 7-2.
Back in ’59, who would have thought that ‘Stretch’ would go on to be a Hall of Famer with more than 500 home runs and 1,500 RBI on his resume.
Congratulations on a fantastic debut – and Happy Anniversary, Mr. McCovey!!!

Harmon Killebrew 1975 Topps Baseball Card
I had no intention of nabbing this card, but while trying to find a few missing cards for my Rollie Fingers and Mike Schmidt collections, I fell upon it for what I thought was a great price.
I paid just $3.00 for this bad-boy, and I have to say that I think I got the better end of that deal!!
The card comes from the 1975 Topps baseball card set, and while I would prefer the card to feature an image of Killebrew taking a mean hack at the plate, it is very hard to not like the image that Topps gave us instead.
Check it out:
Seriously – one of these days I am going to have to pull and organize and scan all of the cards that I have that feature players signing autographs. And if I found out that a checklist of cards like this existed, I would help build it up and also go after the ones that I don’t already own!!!
