Fergie Jenkins 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen – Green mini
Finally, Finally, Finally!!!
I have brought home the Green Mini Fergie Jenkins card from this year’s Gypsy Queen release.
It took a lot of patience and a ton of back and forth between myself and an Ebay seller. We did the ‘Best Offer Dance’ for the better part of a month as I was simply not willing to pay his/her asking price.
And after time, we both wore down. I paid a tad more than what I wanted, and he/she probably let it go for a tad less than what he/she wanted.
But the end result is in both of our favors – I got my card, and he/she sold another card!!!
And now, this Jenkins card is mine. It is serial numbered as 33/99, and I have to say that the Green border color is really strong against this image that features both strong Blue and Red colors from Jenkins’ uniform.
Have a look:

Andre Dawson 2004 Donruss Diamond Kings Heritage Collection
Yes, I am still working on this set. And yes, I expect to be for a very long time.
Among the many saved searches that I have loaded in ‘My Ebay account, is one for both of the 2004 and 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings cards that feature Andre Dawson. I get new results for both of these searches on a daily basis, but I usually have the cards that are being listed.
As you can imagine, this makes finding a new card for my collections a bit tougher to come by.
But, I found one!! This card is the Sepia-toned card of Dawson from the 2004 Donruss Diamond Kinds Heritage Collection set. It is a nice addition to my collection, as I already have the base and Gold versions of the same card.

Joe Morgan 2011 Topps Marquee – Blue Parallel Version
Wow, what a great image!!!!
Attention all makers of baseball cards,
If you want to thrill your customers with great imagery in your product, take a look at this card of Mr. Joe Morgan from the 2011 Topps Marquee baseball card set.
Let this be your guide!!!
Man, that is one fantastic looking card. From the dust created by Morgan’s slide to the helmet captured in mid-air, to the vintage Reds and Pirates uniforms on display to the umpire being in perfect position to make the call.
Great, Great Stuff!!!
Oh, and the card is the Blue parallel too – Serial numbered as 55/299.
A great addition to my growing Joe Morgan player collection.

Giancarlo Stanton 2011 Topps Allen& Ginter – Base
I recently made a purchase of some new 2013 Topps Allen & Ginter cards on http://www.sportlots.com. I think that I did fairly well with my buy, but it did make me think of all of the other A&G cards that I was missing from my player collections.
So, I did a little homework and went shopping again. This time, I focused on the players I needed from other A&G releases. And I scored some new cards, which will be shown off in the coming weeks on ’30-YOC’.
Among the cards is this one of Giancarlo Stanton from the 2011 set. It is the base card, and I have to say that while the old Marlins colors look great with the A&G style, I am not excited about the choice of image of Stanton.
It kind of looks like he is standing at second base after being thrown out trying to steal…

Nolan Ryan 1999 Topps Commemorative Set – Card #11 – 1978 Topps Design
One of my 2013 collecting goals was to complete the 1999 Topps Nolan Ryan Commemorative baseball card set. The set features a re-print of each of Ryan’s base cards issued by Topps from his rookie season to his final season.
This is the 11th card in the set, a re-print of Ryan’s 1978 Topps baseball card:
Nolan Ryan was enjoying his 12th season in the major leagues when the 1978 season started. And he was just 31 years old…
The results?? Fair.
I guess you could call it a ‘down’ year for Ryan. The numbers: 10-13 in 31 starts, 3.72 ERA, 14 complete games, 3 shutouts, 148 walks given up, 260 strikeouts in 234.2 innings of work, 13 wild pitches, and a 10.0 K per 9 innings ratio.
Far from horrible, but far from Ryan-esque as well…
