2013 Topps Archives ‘Tallboys’ Subset – Fred McGriff

With the new 2013 Topps Archives baseball card set release, the ‘Mini Tallboys’ subset is easily one of the best parts of the issue.

The cards from this subset offer a very basic, but throwback feel that screams vintage. The set is 40 cards deep and offers a nice mixture of current players, stars from the 1980′s, and Hall of Fame legends.

This is the Fred McGriff card from the set:

Fred McGriff is arguably one of the most underrated baseball players from the last 20 years.  An extremely consistent hitter over the course of his 19-year career, McGriff added solid hitting and amazing power to the line-up.

Falling seven home runs shy of entry into the magical ‘500 Home Run Club’, I wonder how McGriff would be viewed today if he had reached  that milestone…

  1. Super underrated. I still have al my McGriffs from my collecting days. He’ll always be a Brave to me.

  2. Love the ‘Crime Dog’ and his skills! Very underrated player.
