2013 Topps Archives ‘Tallboys’ Subset – Kirk Gibson

With the new 2013 Topps Archives baseball card set release, the ‘Mini Tallboys’ subset is easily one of the best parts of the issue.

The cards from this subset offer a very basic, but throwback feel that screams vintage. The set is 40 cards deep and offers a nice mixture of current players, stars from the 1980′s, and Hall of Fame legends.

This is the Kirk Gibson card from the set:

Before Kirk Gibson was successfully managing the Arizona Diamondbacks, he was winning World Series championships with the Detroit Tigers and hitting memorable home runs with the Dodgers in World Series play.

Gibson was a very talented player with a knack for power hitting.  Gibson hit 260 doubles and 255 home runs during his playing days.  He had four seasons during his career of both 20 doubles and 20 home runs in the same year.
