Andre Dawson 2013 Panini Cooperstown – Colgan’s Chips Disc – Montreal
Another ‘Chip’ for the collection. This time around, it is the Andre Dawson one that I am showing off.
The ‘Chip’ of Dawson is acknowledging his days in Montreal as a member of the Expos.
And it featured a very familiar scowl that put fear in the minds of many National League pitchers during the 1980’s.
Have a look:
Just imagine this staring back at you while you’re standing 60 feet and six inches away…

Giancarlo Stanton 2010 Bowman ‘Topps 100’
Now this is a sharp looking baseball card. And it kind of has a ‘1986 Topps Team Leaders’ feel to it…
Check it out:
The card comes from the 2010 Bowman subset tagged as ‘Topps 100’. It is nice to see Stanton included in a set like this, and I am especially happy with the image selected to showcase him. The shot comes from Wrigley Field, and they captured ‘Big Mike’ in the midst of a mighty swing.

2013 Topps Archives ‘Tallboys’ Subset – Kevin Mitchell
With the new 2013 Topps Archives baseball card set release, the ‘Mini Tallboys’ subset is easily one of the best parts of the issue.
The cards from this subset offer a very basic, but throwback feel that screams vintage. The set is 40 cards deep and offers a nice mixture of current players, stars from the 1980′s, and Hall of Fame legends.
This is the Kevin Mitchell card from the set:
Kevin Mitchell enjoyed a solid 13-year major league career that included 2 All-Star selections, 1 MVP Award, and a World Series title.
Mitchell was a slugger that was able to still hit for a solid average. He connected for 234 career home runs, with a personal best of 47 during the 1989 baseball season. He also amassed 1,173 hits during his career en route to a lifetime batting average of .284.
And as impressive as his career was, it is one single play in the outfield that he made that is always the focus of conversation when the name Kevin Mitchell is mentioned. Enjoy.

Frank Robinson 2011 Topps – ’60 Years Of Topps’
The ’60 Years Of Topps’ set that Topps released back in 2011 to commemorate their 60th anniversary.
Each card features a very large ’60’ as the background and then a player from the last 60 years in the forefront.
Here is the Frank Robinson card from the set:
It looks awesome. And I love how Topps chose a picture of Robinson while wearing his Grey, Wool Orioles uniform.
This set is getting strong consideration for a future ‘Subset To Collect’. Very, very strong!
The challenge of piecing together a 150-card set is a daunting one though…

1981 HEADLINE: Fernando Valenzuela Becomes 1st Rookie To Capture Cy Young and ROY Awards!!!
On this day in 1981, Fernando Valenzuela won the National League’s Cy Young Award.
The week prior, he was named as the Rookie Of The Year, becoming the first player in major league history to earn both the ROY and the Cy Young Award in the same season.
The numbers? Let’s take a closer look, shall we??
13-7 record with 11 complete games and 8 shutouts. 180 strikeouts with just 61 walks and an ERA of 2.48.
Not too bad for a 20-year old hurler, huh??
Happy Anniversary Mr. Valenzuela!!!

Bryce Harper 2013 Topps Chrome – 1972 Topps Design
Oh yeah baby, look at her shine!
This is the Bryce Harper card from the 2013 Topps Chrome set.
As you can see, this card features the 1972 Topps baseball card design, with a strong twist! The card has been ‘chromed out’ and offers a brilliant shine.
I love the colors of the card and how even while Harper’s uniform has the ability to blend in with the background of the picture, it stands out boldly!
A great addition to my Bryce Harper baseball card collection.
