Giancarlo Stanton 2012 Bowman – Base & Gold

Giancarlo Stanton 2012 Bowman – Base & Gold

Every once in a while, I score a ‘Two Birds With One Stone’ kind of addition to my collection.

And such was the case during a recent shopping adventure on Sportlots.com when I nabbed both the base and Gold versions of Giancarlo Stanton’s 2012 Bowman baseball cards from the same seller.

Have a look:

I don’t know about you, but the looking into the sky by Stanton on these cards make it looks like he is golfing rather than playing baseball.

Still, two very nice cards for my rapidly growing collection of cards that feature Giancarlo.

NICE!!

Reggie Jackson 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes w/Gold ‘NY’ State Seal

Reggie Jackson 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes w/Gold ‘NY’ State Seal

It’s always good to add a nice variation card to your collection when time allows.

And I did this time around with Reggie Jackson’s New York Yankees card from the 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes set.

I already had the base card in my collection, and now as you can see below, I have scored a copy of the ‘NY State’ card.

The logo, in the upper-right corner, is nicely done with a Gold stamp.

And now, the only one that remains on my ‘Want List’ is the ‘Zip Code’ version…

Wish me luck in my hunt!!

Joe Morgan 2013 Topps – 1972 Mini

Joe Morgan 2013 Topps – 1972 Mini

Here is my most recent pick-up for my Joe Morgan collection – his 1972 mini from the 2013 Topps set.

Have a look:

VINTAGE MORGAN 72 MINI

What’s especially nice about this is that it gives you a glimpse of what a true 1972 Topps card of Morgan in his Reds uniform would look like.

Did Morgan have a card in the ’72 set?  Yes, he did – 2 as a mater of fact.  He had a base card in the main set that featured him in a Houston Astros uniform and then he had a card in the Traded set with him in a Reds uniform, but the card did not say ‘Reds’ across the top like the card above does.

As a matter of fact, I have that card – here is a link.

Personally, I like the ‘complete’ card better, but there is nothing better than having the original…

Carlton Fisk 1982 Topps ‘In Action’

Carlton Fisk 1982 Topps ‘In Action’

If your buddy here at ’30-YOC’ could offer up awards for best image used on a baseball card, one of the nominees in that category would certainly be this card.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the 1982 Topps ‘In Action’ baseball card of Carlton Fisk:

FISK 3

WINNER!!!!

Jose Fernandez 2013 Topps Chrome Rookie Card & ERROR Card!!!

Jose Fernandez 2013 Topps Chrome Rookie Card!!!!

While I have seen dozens and dozens of these listed and sold on Ebay over the last month or more, I am a bit surprised by the lack of attention that a rookie card of this magnitude received with such a horrible error on the front of the card.

If you have yet to hear about or encounter the error I am speaking of, check out the team logo in the lower-right corner of this card.

Yep, that is a Seattle Mariners logo.  And no, Fernandez does not play for them.  He’s a Marlin.  And a National Leaguer.  And a Rookie Of The Year!

Just for kicks, I tried to find out how many miles separated the two ballparks in Seattle and Miami.

The number I got was – 3,296.  Topps, you were not even close on this one!!!
