Andre Dawson 2012 Topps Triple Threads – Sapphire – Numbered To 25!!!

Andre Dawson 2012 Topps Triple Threads – Sapphire

When I tell you that I have been seeking this card out for more than twelve months, I am not exaggerating.

If my memory serves correctly, I have only seen 3-4 of these surface on Ebay since the release of the 2012 Topps Triple Threads set, so finding it has been tough.  And when you couple the rarity of the card with the asking prices that the sellers attached to it, it was not a positive experience for me.

Until now!

I finally landed one, and it was in my price range.

This is the Sapphire version of Andre Dawson’s card from the 2012 Topps Triple Threads set.

The card is serial numbered to just 25 copies.  Mine is #6/25.

And this ‘Sapphire’ color is really, really nice – I LOVE IT!!!!

Dustin Pedroia 2013 Bowman – Base & Gold

Dustin Pedroia 2013 Bowman – Base & Gold

Hey, why not knock out ‘two birds with one stone’?

During a recent shopping binge on Sportlots.com, I filled my basket with modern cards of Dustin Pedroia and a few other current players.

The pricing worked in my favor and pretty soon I had more than 60 cards in my cart – with Pedroia, Andrew McCutchen, and Giancarlo Stanton being the main attractions.

Among the cards of Pedroia was two cards from the 2013 Bowman set – his base card, and the Gold parallel.

Not bad for a $0.36 investment!  Don’tcha think??

1993 Headline: Reggie Jackson Voted Into Baseball Hall Of Fame

1993 Headline:  Reggie Jackson Voted Into Baseball Hall Of Fame

On this day in 1993, it was announced that Reginald Martinez Jackson was voted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

The election came during Reggie’s first year of eligibility.  He earned 396 votes of the 423 cast for election; good for a 93.6% clip.

Happy Anniversary and Congratulations Reggie!!!

Happy Birthday Charlie Hough!!!

Happy Birthday Charlie Hough!!!

Charlie Hough turns 66 years old today.

Charlie Hough can be remembered for several things from his 25-year career.  216 wins/216 losses…  1986 All-star game…  3 World Series losses… Serving up one of Reggie Jackson’s 1977 WS home runs…

But for me, the name Charlie Hough represents Florida Marlins history.  Hough was the starting pitcher on Opening Day in 1993, the first year of the Florida Marlins.  No matter what the result was, a 6-3 win over Orel Hershiser and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Hough is a baseball legend for Marlins fans.

Happy Birthday Mr. Hough!!!

Wait A Minute, Reggie Jackson Was A Seattle Mariner???

Wait A Minute, Reggie Jackson Was A Seattle Mariner???

Well, not actually.

But these images would suggest that he was…

Reggie 1 Reggie 2

Interesting, huh??

The story goes like this – During the 1979 MLB All-Star Game photo shoot, Reggie had yet to receive his Yankees uniform.  So, he donned a Mariners uniform during the pre-game festivities while his correct uniform was in transit to him.

And yes, the Yankees uniform arrived in time for the game’s official start.

**Hat-Tip to loyal ’30-YOC’ reader Matt for sharing this very cool story with me.  Thanks Bud!
