Bryce Harper 2013 Topps Finest – X-fractor!!!

Bryce Harper 2013 Topps Finest – X-fractor!!!

After pulling the all of the base cards I wanted from the 2013 Topps Finest set, I made a mental note to keep an eye on any parallels of the guys I collect just in case some come across at affordable prices.

And you know what, that planned worked.

I was able to haul in this Bryce Harper X-fractor from the set last week.

Have a look:

As you can see, the card features the same basic design and image that the base card features, but the added X-fractor finish makes this one stand out.

I don’t own too many cards like this – but I have to admit that it is pretty neat.

2013 Topps Update ‘Postseason Heroes’ Subset – Buster Posey

2013 Topps Update ‘Postseason Heroes’ Subset – Buster Posey

The 2013 Topps Update baseball card set includes a subset tagged as ‘Postseason Heroes.  And with that theme, you would expect to find cards of modern players like Albert Pujols, Edgar Renteria, and Pablo Sandoval but none of these guys made the checklist.

That does leave room for some nice surprises…

This is the card of Buster Posey from the set:

In a short, 5-year career, Buster Posey has already established himself as a big-time postseason performer.

Posey has made it to the World Series twice, each time walking away with championship hardware.  In 9 games, Posey has amassed a .286 batting average and a .324 on-base percentage.  He has collected 10 hits including two home runes while driving in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.

Did You Know…

The last major league player to hit twenty or more triples in a season and steal less than 10 bases in the same season is Stan Musial.

In 1946, Musial connected for 20 triples and stole just 7 bases.

A Gift To Myself – My New Fergie Jenkins Signed Cooperstown Collection Jersey!!!

A Gift To Myself – My New Fergie Jenkins Signed Cooperstown Collection Jersey!!!

I had a very solid Ebay holiday season when it comes to being a seller.  I was able to offload quite a bit of the cards that did not fit into my collection (primarily from modern box breaks) and it resulted in a PayPal account that saw a nice increase in ‘available balance’.

Instead of shopping for small things that would slowly chip away at my balance and net me a big stack of cards, I sought out some higher end stuff that I normally would not purchase on my own.

Ultimately, I ended up scoring two pretty unique and incredible pieces for my collection.

This is item #1 – a signed Fergie Jenkins Cooperstown Collection Cubs jersey

JENKINS JERSEY 1

JENKINS JERSEY 2

JENKINS JERSEY 3

JENKINS JERSEY 4

JENKINS JERSEY 5

The jersey is awesome, and it comes inscribed with the inscriptions I would be seeking if I was attempting to get a jersey done on my own.  And the Silver paint pen is exactly what I would use if doing this on my own.  I could not go wrong with this piece!!

The seller that was offering the jersey is always selling them for $159 as he had Jenkins at a private signing a few years ago and has quite a few extras.  Well, during the holidays, he listed a bunch of items with a starting bid price of $0.99 and I was on it from the start.  I paid $44.00 for this signed jersey, and it is a perfect complement to my ‘Ultimate Jenkins’ collection.

I cannot believe that I got this piece for so little.  Adding a signed jersey to my Fergie Jenkins collection has been on my ‘to do list’ for some time, and to do so at such a high quality rate while extremely affordable allowed me to go after another piece which I will show off in the coming weeks.

As for now, I will sit back and enjoy this beauty!!!
