Andrew McCutchen 2011 Topps Allen & Ginter

Andrew McCutchen 2011 Topps Allen & Ginter

Another Allen & Ginter card for my Andrew McCutchen collection – YES!

This one comes from the 2011 A&G issue and it looks great.

I have to say that of all of the Ginter cards that I have picked up of modern players, it is the Andrew McCutchen cards that look the best.  Between the old-schools Pirates’ logo used on the cards and the vintage look that Cutch’s uniform has, these cards look great.

I’m eager to see how his 2014 issue looks.  Just a few months away…

1994 HEADLINE: Andre Dawson Joins The ‘1,500 RBI Club’

1994 HEADLINE:  Andre Dawson Joins The ‘1,500 RBI Club’

On this day in 1994, Andre Dawson picked up RBI #1,500 of his major league career.

In  22-11 win over the Kansas City Royals, Andre Dawson entered the game with 1,499 RBI.  It did not take long for him to help get the Red Sox a run as he laced a single through the infield and drove in career RBI #1,500 in the first inning of the game.

One the day, Dawson went 1-for-3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Dawson would end his career with 1,591 RBI.

Happy Anniversary ‘Hawk’!!!

Miami Marlins 2014 Topps Opening Day Team Set – BLUE FOIL VERSION!!!

Miami Marlins 2014 Topps Opening Day Team Set – BLUE FOIL VERSION!!!

After securing the 2014 Topps Opening Day team set of the Miami Marlins at the baseball card show last Friday, I immediately set out on bringing home the Blue Foil version of the set as well.

Each Blue Foil card from the OD set is serial numbered to just 2014 copies, just like the Gold cards from the Series 1 release.

At first, I tried to buy the cards as singles, but I was unable to find a seller offering multiples of the Marlins I was seeking with the hopes of getting a reduced shipping price due to volume.

Instead, I just bought the complete set.  Much quicker, and much cleaner!

Here is the full set:

The Blue Foil is sharp – and very clean looking too!

It’s nice to see four players represented by the team in this issue.  And while Jake Marisnick is not with the big league club right now, I am very happy with the player mix.

And now, all I have to do is focus on that ‘Billy The Marlin’ card and I am done with the Opening Day issue.
