Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Opening Day – Blue Foil Parallel

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Opening Day – Blue Foil Parallel

Yeah, Baby!

First, I landed the complete 4-card team set of the Blue Foil Miami Marlins cards from this year’s Opening Day set issued by Topps.

And then with that set out of the way and inserted into my Marlins album, I immediately sought out another single of Stanton for my player collection.

And I was able to grab one pretty affordably too.

The card is serial numbered as 1259/2014 and I am almost done with all of my cards on my ‘Need’ list from this set.

YES!!

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Heriatge League Leaders w/Clayton Kershaw

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Heriatge League Leaders w/Clayton Kershaw

It’s very cool to see your young 21-year old pitcher featured on a League Leaders card with the best pitcher in the game.

As a fan of baseball, a fan of the Miami Marlins, and a fan of Jose Fernandez, I cannot tell you how much pride I have in the fact that this player on this team is such a relevant face and name in the game.

To be paired up with Clayton Kershaw is truly remarkable.

This card is from the 2014 Topps Heritage baseball card set.

And yes, it is without a doubt, my favorite card in the checklist.

WOOT!

Reggie Jackson 2002 Topps American Pie – ‘American Sluggers’

Reggie Jackson 2002 Topps American Pie – ‘American Sluggers’

I have a few cards from this set and it has always been one that has interested me.

Issued in 2002 as a part of the American Pie issue, American Sluggers offers a really interesting graphic design.  And I love the picture of Reggie that they chose for the card too!

Have a look:

There he is – a very young Reginald Martinez Jackson in his vintage Oakland Athletics uniform.

I love the colors.  I love the afro-style haircut spilling from under his helmet.  And yes, I love his ‘stache too!

A gear addition to my collection that honors the sweet career of Mr. October!

Andrew McCutchen 2014 Donruss – Power Plus

Andrew McCutchen 2014 Donruss – Power Plus

After picking up a few base cards from the 2014 Donruss set for my modern player collections, I did not think that I was going to invest any more money in cards from the set.

Then, while shopping with a seller on Sportlots.com, I did a search with them as the lone seller for cards of the modern guys I go after – Harp, Jose, Stanton, DP, and Cutch.

And I picked up this card for just $0.18.

I like it.  It is a fair card.  To me, it has the look and feel of a card a kid could put together out of images clipped from a magazine.

Bryce Harper 2012 Panini USA Baseball

Bryce Harper 2012 Panini USA Baseball

Here is kind of a neat one for you…

This card is from the 2012 Panini USA Baseball set.  The card features an image of an extremely young Bryce Harper in his Team USA uniform.

I am pretty upset that the sport of baseball is no longer a part of the Summer Olympics.  And while I don’t think that a ‘Dream Team’ of players representing the US could do for this sport what it did globally for basketball in 1992, I do wish that the young guys starring in today’s game got the chance to represent the country and play together with a common goal.

Imagine an outfield of McCutchen, Harper, and Trout.
