Notes From His 1975 Season:   Al Oliver played in 155 games for the Pirates in 1975.  In 628 at-bats, Oliver connected for 176 hits including 39 doubles, 8 triples, and 18 home runs.  He was also responsible for driving in 84 runs for the ‘Bucs’ while scoring 90 times.  Oliver was named to the NL All-Star team in 1975.

Notes From Career:  Al Oliver was chosen as an All-Star 7 times during his 18-year career.  He was a top MVP candidate multiple times and won three Silver Slugger awards for offensive excellence.  Oliver is a career .303 hitter with 2,743 hits to his credit.  Of his 2,743 hits, Oliver connected for 529 doubles, 77 triples, and 219 home runs.  Oliver won a World Series championship with the Pirates in 1971.

  1. Al “Scoop” Oliver is a much under rated player from the 1970’s. He currently ranks 55th on the all-time hit list with a career batting average of .303. I remember when he left my Pirates for the league.
