  1. Sutherland played a lot of SS and LF in his rookie season (1967), then was mysteriously relegated to utility-bench duty in 1968. This is surprising, given that rookie SS phenom Don Money flopped in April ’68, and veteran SS Bobby Wine was lost for the remainder of the season in mid-May.

    The Phillies used minor-league journeyman Roberto Pena as their regular SS for the last 4 1/2 months of the season, while Sutherland languished on the bench.
