Notes From His 1975 Season:  Tommy Helms played in 64 games for the Houston Astros in 1975.  He had 135 at-bats in those contests and connected for 28 hits en route to a .208 batting average.  Of his 28 hits, Helms connected for 26 singles and 2 doubles.  He scored 7 runs for the Astros in 1972 while driving in 14.

Notes From Career:  Tommy Helms was the National League Rooke of the Year in 1964 as a member of the Cincinnati Reds.  He was chosen as an All-Star in two seasons and also captured two Gold Gloves for defensive excellence at second base as well with the Reds.  Helms is a career .269 hitter with 1,342 hits on his resume.  In twelve seasons, Helms had 4,997 at-bats; he struck out just 301 times in that span while also drawing 231 walks.
