On this day in 1981, Andre Dawson and the Montreal Expos played host to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Dawson entered the game with 99 career home runs and did not need long to make an impact and make history in the same swing.  In the bottom of the first inning, and with Jim Bibby on the mound, Dawson connected for a home run to give the Expos a 1-0 lead.

On the day, Dawson went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.  He had 1 RBI in the game and scored 2 times.  His 2 hits helped raise his batting average to .328.
