Giancarlo Stanton 2011 Topps Opening Day
Each and every time that I see a card of a modern Marlins player in his original Marlins uniform I crave that old team logo and color scheme.
I grew up on Black & Teal, and while I have grown to love and enjoy the new colors and look of the new Marlins uniform, nothing will replace the originals.
Here is a great shot of those old uni’s – It’s a card of Giancarlo Stanton from the 2011 Topps Opening Day set.

Eddie Murray 1987 Fleer Record Setters
Here is a very neat card of Eddie Murray that was issued in 1987. The card comes from the limited edition ‘Record Setters’ set that was sold as a complete box set that consisted of 44 cards.
This set was limited to exclusive sales at Eckerd’s Pharmacy in 1987, but as soon as they were released, singles were everywhere as many of these sets were ripped open by collectors and fans.

I love it. A nice and tight shot of Eddie as he is apparently looking to his dugout for ‘the sign’. My guess is that the sign he received was ‘Let it rip’.
No member of the Twins earned more Gold Glove Awards than pitcher Jim Kaat, who won 11 of them while a member of the Twins franchise.

On this day in 1998, Cal Ripken voluntarily sat out his first baseball game in more than 16 seasons.
Baseball’s ‘Iron Man’ thought that it was time for a break, albeit just one game.
Cal’s streak will go down as one baseball’s most grand accomplishments. His class on and off the field accompanied by a very large baseball skill set makes him one of the greatest ambassadors that the sport will ever encounter.

Joe Morgan’s 1965 Topps Rookie Baseball Card Is A Thing Of Vintage Beauty!!!
Joe Morgan’s debut in the baseball card collecting world came in 1965 via a multi-player rookie card. He and his teammate at the time, Sonny Jackson, share the card and both men were rookies for the Houston Colt .45s.
The 1965 set features a classic design, and a very popular team banner that proudly waves with the team’s name.
The coloring of this card works very well too. The Grey frame that surrounds the images of both players looks great with the Navy and Orange caps that both players are wearing.
And that Yellow flag is a great exclamation point to the card!!!
I’m so happy to have one of these in my collection. A true gem!!!
Joe Morgan Offers Up A Pretty Nice & Clean Autograph
Joe Morgan offers up a pretty nice autograph; pretty clean too.
Far from artsy and built with a lot of flare, Morgan’s signature is easy to read, and it can be made out without much strain on the eyes.
I have a signed Joe Morgan baseball in my collection, and it is one of my favorite signed balls. I keep it with my other Reds signed balls from the ‘Big Red Machine’ era – and it sits proudly on top of that set!
