And That Makes 10.

And That Makes 10.

If you were with me and ’30-YOC’ on Monday night, you would have seen that I scored the 10th signed baseball for my Fergie Jenkins collection.

Yes, I said 10.

All signed by my favorite pitcher of all-time.

So, since 10 is such a nice, round number, I thought it would only be fitting to show them all off to you at one time.

Sound good?

Great.  Here we go!!

Andre Dawson 1993 Topps Baseball Card – AUTOGRAPHED!!!

Andre Dawson 1993 Topps Baseball Card – AUTOGRAPHED!!!

How about another sweet Andre Dawson autograph for the collection??

Sure thing… Don’t mind if I do!

My most recent score is this card signed by Andre in a bright Blue Sharpie.  The card is from the 1993 Topps set, and it features as great, action shot of ‘Hawk’ as he watches the result of another mighty swing.

If you were wondering, this is the 87th card in my ‘Dawson TTM/In Person’ auto collection.  Hopefully I can add a few more in the next few moths and really put a charge into getting to 100.

Time will tell.  And the ride will be sweet!

SIGNING RESULTS: 2 New Balls For My Fergie Jenkins Collection!!

SIGNING RESULTS: 2 New Balls For My Fergie Jenkins Collection!!

Friends, I missed out on an opportunity to take part in a Fergie Jenkins signings earlier in the year, so when another chance came up, I jumped right in.

With both feet!

Two balls this time around.  And each one is a unique and special addition to my collection that honors my favorite pitcher of all-time.

The first ball that I got signed is very similar to another recent addition to my collection that was signed by Andre Dawson.

Have a look:

Yep, another sweet Rawlings Fenway Park 100th Anniversary commemorative ball.  And Fergie added his jersey number from his Red Sox days to the signature too – #31.

And now, another great one.  Check out the inscription on this one…

Yessir, it reads ‘FLY’.  As is Fergie Jenkins is ‘FLY’ – and I love it.

When I think 1970’s, I think groovy and smooth and fly.  And when I think 1970’s baseball style, I think Fergie Jenkins (and others).

2 great additions to my collection.  2 very unique pieces.

Tonight, I am a very happy collector!

Andre Dawson 1992 Topps Baseball Card – AUTOGRAPHED!!!

Andre Dawson 1992 Topps Baseball Card – AUTOGRAPHED!!!’

How’s about another sweet Andre Dawson signed card for the collection, B?

Sounds good to me, I don’t mind at all!

And here it is, the latest autograph for my Dawson collection:

This is Andre’s card from the 1992 Topps baseball card set.  I’ve always like this card because the image captured the power of Dawson’s swing while also showing him keeping his eye on the ball after making contact.

The Blue Sharpie autograph looks great on the card, and is a very nice complement to the multiple Blue elements of the card.

Another great one for the ‘Ultimate Dawson’ collection.  YES!!!

Andre Dawson Autographed 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary!!

Andre Dawson Autographed 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary!!

It took me a little longer than I wanted, but I have finally landed a new signed Andre Dawson card for my collection.

This card is from one of my favorite modern sets, Topps Lineage.  And the card is the Diamond Anniversary version of Andre’s Chicago Cubs card from the set.

Have a look:

This is new ground for me as I typically only go after vintage cards of ‘The Hawk’ for my autograph collection.  And then you add the ‘parallel’ aspect to the card and I am really in rare territory.

But, I have always liked the Topps Lineage brand and I think that the sharp, Blue autograph that Andre provided looks fantastic on this bright and shiny baseball card.

Another great addition to ‘Ultimate Dawson‘!!!!

Andre Dawson Signed Ball #16 – Fenway Park 100th Anniversary Ball. Come See!!

Andre Dawson Signed Ball #16 – Fenway Park 100th Anniversary Ball.  Come See!!

I don’t recall how or when I picked it up, but I had a $50 Amazon gift card in my ‘stack’ of gift cards with active balances on them.

While shopping on Amazon a few weeks ago while looking for the new Rawlings Wrigley Field commemorative baseballs, I found a similarly themed Fenway Park ball.

So, I bought two of them.  One for Fergie Jenkins.  And one for Andre Dawson.

And after waiting for just a few weeks, the ball that I sent to Mr. Dawson has been returned to me.  And it is signed beautifully!

Have a look:

I asked Andre to add the ‘#10’ inscription to the ball as this is the jersey number he wore while with the club during the 1993 and 1994 baseball seasons.  I think it looks great!

And when I eventually get that Wrigley Field ball signed, these two special edition balls will look great together.

Enjoy.  And ‘Thanks for Reading’!!!

A Special Shipment Headed To Hall OF Famer, Fergie Jenkins!!!!

A Special Shipment Headed To Hall OF Famer,  Fergie Jenkins!!!!

On the way in to work this morning, I made a quick stop at my local USPS building so I could drop a very special package in the mail.

One of my collecting goals for 2014 is to add some bulk to my ‘Ultimate Jenkins’ collection.  So, I am taking a few steps towards making that happen.

This very special package is headed to Mr. Jenkins this morning!!!

As soon as it is returned back to me, I will unveil the goodies inside!!

Andre Dawson 2010 Panini Century ‘Postcards’ Certified Autograph & 2-Color Jersey Relic

Andre Dawson 2010 Panini Century ‘Postcards’ Certified Autograph & 2-Color Jersey Relic

I have never been a fan of this set, but when the card features your favorite player, you tend to bend the rules a bit.

And this time around, I am happy that I did just that.

Not only does this card feature a 2-tone swatch of game-used jersey worn by Andre Dawson, but it is perfectly completed with his gorgeous signature.

Have a look:

The card is serial numbered to just 50 copies.  Mine is #24/50.

I’m happy to have this one in my collection now.   And I am just as happy to be able to move on to the next – I’ll try for a better looking card the next time around…

Andre Dawson Autographed 1995 Donruss Baseball Card – SWEET!!!

Andre Dawson Autographed 1995 Donruss Baseball Card – SWEET!!!

That’s right – another sweet signed baseball card for my Andre Dawson player collection.

This card comes from the 1995 Donruss set, when Dawson was playing for the Boston Red Sox.

Have a look:

What I have found with many of my signed Dawson cards that features him in a Red Sox uniform is that the signature does not pop off of the card like they do from when Andre was playing for Montreal or Chicago or even Florida.  It probably has to do with the cards being darker since the Red Sox cards always have Navy Blue as a primary color.

Luckily, this one looks great.  And the Blue Sharpie signature truly stands out!!

Another great addition to ‘Ultimate Dawson’.

Take A Guess At What I Am Going To Do With These Two Baseballs…

Take A Guess At What I Am Going To Do With These Two Baseballs…

After publishing my most recent ‘My Balls‘ post I got to thinking about how I would like to add a few more specialty signed baseballs to my collection.

I have a few Hall of Fame balls, a Gold Glove ball, a Cy Young ball, and a few Black Rawlings balls in my collection.  I even have a special Montreal Expos / Puerto Rico ball in my collection.

I know that the Cubs will be using a special Wrigley Field ball this year that honors the 100th season of Cubs baseball at the ballpark.  I have yet to find bargain pricing online for those balls yet.

But, I did find a great price on the Fenway Park 100th Anniversary balls that the Red Sox used in 2012.

So, with the help of an Amazon gift card that I had been holding for a special purchase, I bought two of them.

Here they are:

And here is a zoomed-in look at the logo:

Any guesses on who I may be sending these to so I can add some more signed specialty baseballs to my collection???

Hmmmm….  I wonder.
