Baseball Card Show Review – It was FANTASTIC!!!

Baseball Card Show Review – It was FANTASTIC!!!

Well, my final baseball card show of 2013 is now history.  The final scheduled show is during Thanksgiving weekend and I have family plans that will not allow me to attend.

Thankfully, the show I attended this past Friday left my show experience for 2013 on a very high note.  I only worked with two dealers, but I brought home some fantastic stuff – without breaking the bank!

I spent the majority of my time sifting through dime-priced bargain bins.  And I left them with a healthy stack of new cards for my collection.

Along the way, I hauled in cards for a player collection that I recently started.  And I also got some inspiration for a new player collection that is Red Sox themed.  Lastly, I scored a Florida Marlins collectible that I have been after for some time.

As the title says, it was FANTASTIC!!!

And I will be showing off all of the cards that I picked up throughout the day.  So, sit back and relax – ’30-YOC’ will be fun-filled all day long!!!

Baseball Card Show Tonight!!!

Baseball Card Show Tonight!!!

Yep, it is the first Friday of the new month and that means it is time for another baseball card show in South Florida.

This will be my final card show of 2013 as I will not be able to make the December event.

So, I am ready to go.  I am ready to shop.  And I am ready to bring home some goodies!!

A lot of new card releases have come out in the last two months that I have yet to really dig into.  I’m hoping that I am able to find a seller, or two, or three that can help me with that goal.

Speaking of goals, here are some of the things I will be keeping an eye out for:

  1. 2013 Topps Update singles
  2. 2013 Topps Chrome singles
  3. 2013 Panini Pinnacle singles
  4. 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes singles
  5. 2013 Panini Prizm singles
  6. Bryce Harper cards
  7. Jose Fernandez cards
  8. Andrew McCutchen cards
  9. Inspiration for new subsets to collect during the offseason

I know that the list is a lengthy one, but I need to try to catch up and see if I can score some cards in bulk to help me with my goals.

My fingers are crossed that I get lucky and bring home a lot of great cards.

And on Monday I will show them all off to you with my day-long ‘Card Show Recap’.

Have a great weekend!

Baseball Card Show Review

Baseball Card Show Review

Well, it is the Monday after a baseball card show weekend and I am here with my report.

Unfortunately, many of the goals that I had for the show were quickly extinguished as none of the dealers present had any cards from the new Pinnacle or Panini releases.  And only one dealer had cards from the new Topps Chrome set, and none of them were Marlins…

Needless to say, I really had to dig in deep to score some cards and bring home some goodies.

While I was not completely thrilled with my haul by the end of the night, I did come away with the inspiration to go after a new subset and maybe even a new modern player collection as well…

Stay tuned for a day full of posts that recap my purchases from the show.

It may not be as many as I have shown off in recent months, but the quality is definitely there!!!

Thanks for reading.  Come back throughout the day to see the stuff…

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

Finally, the first Friday night of the new month is upon us and for this collector of baseball cards that means that it is time to shop for some new (or old) stuff at the monthly baseball card show.

I did really well at my last card show in September and am extremely eager to see what I can find this time around.

Some of the things that I will be searching for:

  1. Modern cards of the legends that I collect
  2. 2013 Topps Chrome cards for my PC’s
  3. 2013 Topps Chrome Miami Marlins cards
  4. 2013 Panini Prizm cards for my PC’s
  5. 2013 Panini Prizm Miami Marlins cards
  6. 2013 Pinnacle Hometown Heores cards for my PCs
  7. 2013 Topps Series 1 & 2 Miami Marlins colored parallels
  8. Supplies – I need some top loaders that can hold thick cards
  9. A prize for my eventual 2013 World Series Contest!!!

I am really excited about the show tonight and I am hoping to have some great stuff to show off to you on Monday.   Make sure to come back and check out ’30-YOC’ on Monday as I will unveil for you every card that I score!!

Have a great weekend.

Baseball Card Show Review

Wow, Monday came fast, huh?

You may recall that I attended a baseball card show on Friday night and I did fairly well.

As I expected, the dealers that were missing last month because they were at the National Show were back, and they brought new stuff to check out.

I was able to find a good amounts of the cards that I was seeking – new Ginters, new Marlins, a vintage pick-up, and a very nice surprise at the end of the night.

Stay tuned to ’30-YOC’ all day long as I will begin showing off my haul from the show for you in just a little bit.

Have a nice day!

Baseball Card Show T-O-N-I-G-H-T!!!!

Finally, it is the first weekend of September and this baseball card collector is headed to his monthly card show.

After last month’s show, I am hoping that the dealers that went to the National have brought back some new goodies for me to check out.  I didn’t buy too much last time around, and my desire to jump into boxes and boxes of cards is very strong.

Among the things that I am hoping to find:

  1. 2013 A&G Miami Marlins cards
  2. 2103 Panini Cooperstown singles for my player collections
  3. 2013 A&G singles for my player collections
  4. 2013 colored parallel Miami Marlins cards from the flagship – Series 1 & 2
  5. Jose Fernandez rookie cards
  6. Giancarlo Stanton 2011 Gypsy Queen ‘Wall Climbers’ – last one for my subset
  7. 2013 Archives ’72 Basketball Design
  8. 2013 Archives ‘Mini Tallboys’
  9. Goodies for upcoming ’30-YOC’ contests and giveaways

As you can see, I have a lot I’m going to be looking for.  Hopefully I am able to snag hoards of cards from my list – and more!!

Come back to ’30-YOC’ on Monday as I will be featuring each and every card that I buy!!

Have a great weekend.

Baseball Card Show Review

Baseball Card Show Review

The first weekend of August has now passed us by and with it, another baseball card show is in the books.

And unfortunately, my suspicion about the attendance at the show, at least from the dealer side, was correct.  I noticed at least four dealers that are always present at the show were not there.  My guess is that they made the trek to Chicago to sell at the National.

So, with a few less tables to shop at, I tried to uncover a few gems from sellers that I normally do not work with.

The results?  Fair.  I bought some cards that I may not have normally picked up or even found.

And as for my list of goals?  I did very well – concentrating on exactly what I was seeking.

I’ve got everything scanned.  And I will be showing off the entire haul for you to enjoy today.

So, sit back and relax and enjoy the day with ’30-Year Old Cardboard’.

Have a great day.

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

Finally, the first weekend of the month is upon us as I am eager to get to another baseball card show as I  have been itching to pick up some new cards for my collection.

This is the second time that the show will be held at its new location and I am eager to see if that affects the attendance or dealer turnout.  My hope is that I see a few new dealers and a lot of new faces shopping for and buying cards.

As for my personal goals for the show, I have a few.  But, I also want to be ready to dig into new dealer displays so I want to keep my mind open for this one.

I will say that I am a little concerned that some of the dealers have headed North for the National Card Convention in Chicago.  Hopefully, I am still able to find enough to hold my interest…

Some of the things I am looking for:

  • Andre Dawson 2013 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions cards
  • Marlins colored variations from 2013 Topps Series 1 & 2
  • Cards for my new vintage and modern PC’s

Have a great weekend everyone.  And don’t forget, I will have a full card show recap for you on Monday that will include all of my purchases.

Baseball Card Show Review

Baseball Card Show Review

As you may recall, my weekend plans started on Friday night with the local baseball card show coming to town.

The show was at a new location and while the room was quite a bit smaller, it was much better suited with quality lighting than what I had been used to at the show’s prior location.  It is also quite a bit closer to where I live – taking only 20 minutes to get there versus the normal 35-40 minute drive I had been making for the better part of three years.

As for the cards, there was a lot of stuff to look at.   And with a smaller room, it felt like there was less space to spread out and get going – but I still managed to pull some cards for my collection.

My haul was not quite as large as what I would have liked, but I was able to knock out a few needs for my collection and I will show them off throughout the day.

Stay tuned and enjoy!

Baseball Card Show Tonight!!!

Baseball Card Show Tonight!!!

Well friends, as you are reading this post, I could very well be ‘Elbow Deep’ in cardboard.  And loving every minute of it!!!

The monthly baseball card show is upon us, and this one will be a unique one.  The card show that I have been attending in Dania for the better part of three years is moving.  And it is moving closer to where I live!!  What used to be a 35-40 minute drive will not be a 20-ish minute drive.  I am eager to see what the new hotel that is hosting the show has to offer as far as space is concerned.  And I am also hopeful that this new show attracts some new sellers and buyers as new blood is always a good thing.

At the show, I will be keeping an eye out for a lot of things.  I have some new collecting goals and some things to wrap up as well.

Some of the things I will be seeking:

  1. 2013 Topps Series 2 Marlins cards that I need to complete my team set
  2. Cards from the new subsets I am working on
  3. Bryce Harper cards – maybe I can find a bargain or two?
  4. 2013 Bowman Rob Brantly card for my team set
  5. Hall Of Fame relic cards
  6. Cheap wax – I feel like ripping some packs!!!

Hopefully I am able to knock out a few of these goals while sorting through stacks and stacks of cardboard.

And yes, on Monday, I will show off my entire haul so please come back to check out the goods.
