Miami Marlins 2014 Topps Archives Team Set

Miami Marlins 2014 Topps Archives Team Set

Oh yeah, I am happy to announce that I have landed myself a 2014 Topps Archives team set of the Miami Marlins.

The set features just four cards, but they look great.

Check ’em out:

As you can see, the cards offer up the 1986, 1973, and 1980 Topps card designs.

And the best part of this set – not one of the players featured was born when any of these players were born!!  HAHAHA.

Florida Marlins 2010 Topps Allen & Ginter Team Set

Florida Marlins 2010 Topps Allen & Ginter Team Set

With the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter release occurring just days ago, I am trying to get my Florida/Miami Marlins team set collection up to speed.

While I am not a huge fan of this set, it has more to do with the non-baseball stuff than the actual baseball cards itself.

So, I just cherry-pick the cards I want: cards for my vintage player collections, cards for my modern player collections, and of course, my Marlins team sets.

Since the initial 2007 release of A&G, I have scored all but 2 team sets.

Until now that is – as I have landed the 2010 set.

Have a look:

The set is nice – I especially like the two horizontal cards this time around as they add a nice, new look.

And now with this 2010 issue out of the way, I have just the 2012 set to grab.

Oh, and of course, the new 2014 too!!

Miami Marlins 2013 Panini Prizm Team Set

Miami Marlins 2013 Panini Prizm Team Set

The Panini Prizm brand of baseball cards takes my memory back to the ‘Metal’ cards that were issued in the 1990’s as a new baseball card gimmick.

And while I was not extremely active with my collection when these ‘Metal’ cards were launched back in the day, they are the first thing that I thought of when I saw this new release from Panini.

The Marlins team set from this set of cards features 9 cards.  I was able to piece the full set together by shopping with just one seller on  The Fernandez card set me back $0.50 cents and the remaining eight cards cost me just $0.18 each – not a bad $1.94 investment.

Have a look:

I like the action that these cards offers, especially the Rob Brantley rookie card in the upper-left corner. I do however, wish that Panini used a few more images that brought either White or Orange jerseys to the cards as that would certainly brighten up a very dark team set.

Florida Marlins 2010 Bowman Team Set – GOLD!!!

Florida Marlins 2010 Bowman Team Set – GOLD!!!

Well, last week I showed you the base team set of the Florida Marlins from the 2010 Bowman set.

And now, it is time to show off the same set with a bit more of a royal flare.

Here is the Gold version:

Same cards.  Same cardstock.  Same images.

But, that Sweet golden border really brightens up the card while also giving it a nice sense of richness.

Florida Marlins 2010 Bowman Team Set

Florida Marlins 2010 Bowman Team Set

Sure, the set may be small, but that does not mean that it cannot pack a punch!

This is the Florida Marlins team set from the 2010 Bowman set:

Just 4 cards deep, Bowman offered us some great action-packed images for this Teal & Black set – and not a single picture of a player hitting!!

You’ve got the ROY Chris Coghlan rounding the bases, Dan Uggla making a play at second base, Josh Johnson firing from the mound, and Hanley Ramirez putting his body on the line in an effort to record an out.

Man, I miss that club!  GO FISH!!

Miami Marlins 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes Team Set

Miami Marlins 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes Team Set

I have been a big fan of this issue since it came out.

And when it did debut, I immediately began working on hauling in all of the Andre Dawson, Jim Palmer, and Fergie Jenkins cards from the set that I could find.

I even nabbed two of the three cards that feature Giancarlo Stanton.

But, it is just now that I picked up the Marlins team set.  I guess that I absent mindedly missed it.

But, now it is mine, and it features some pretty solid Marlins royalty.

Have a look:

Just 4 cards in this team set, but certainly four players that have all impacted this franchise immensely.

A very cool addition to my Marlins team set collection!!

Miami Marlins 2014 Bowman Team Set

Miami Marlins 2014 Bowman Team Set

Well, I have another great addition to my Miami Marlins collection.  This time the team set comes from the recently released 2014 Bowman product.

The set consists of just 4 cards, but packs quite the punch when it comes to action.

Have a look:

Along with great action, the colors are packed with color as well.  And with minimal graphics, and not a lot of ‘random’ stuff added to the design of the card, the images are able to truly be the focal point of the card.

I especially like the card of Jake Marisnick.  And while he is not on the current major league roster, he may get the call up in September again to re-join the team.

Florida Marlins 1998 Upper Deck Collector’s Choice Team Set With Inserts

Florida Marlins 1998 Upper Deck Collector’s Choice Team Set With Inserts

It’s not often in today’s collecting climate that you get to find a team set that features more cards that a single album page can hold.

Thankfully, the 1990’s produced a lot of team sets that contain more than 18 cards.

And this is one of them – the 1998 Upper Deck Collector’s Choice team set of the Florida Marlins.

Let me apologize now for the very random scan sizes…

1998 UD CC A 1998 UD CC B 1998 UD CC C

Scan size set aside, this set features a glorious amount of Teal, Black, and White – and that makes this Marlins fan extremely happy.

Upper Deck has always offered us some great photography over the years, and while I could do without the posed portrait-style image of Livan Hernandez that is in this set, I will let it pass because I really like the action images for the rest of the guys.

A great addition to my Marlins team set collection!!  YESSIR!!!

Florida Marlins 1994 Pinnacle Team Set

Florida Marlins 1994 Pinnacle Team Set

The 1994 Florida Marlins were far from a competitive team, but they did have quite a bit of spunk and personality.

Evidence of such is in their 1994 Pinnacle team set.

Have a look:

These guys sure do look like they’re having a blast out there, don’t they?!?!

Man I miss those Teal jerseys.

Maybe the Marlins will bring that back in some kind of ‘Throwback’ effort someday.  I’d be game for it!!!

Florida Marlins 2007 Fleer Ultra Team Set

Florida Marlins 2007 Fleer Ultra Team Set

The Fleer Ultra brand of baseball cards sure did offer up some beauties!

Have a look at this Marlins team set from the 2007 issue:

This one is sweet!!

And I paid just $1.00 for it.  Not only is the set chock-full of sweet images, but the style of the card allows for the image to be the full focus with no gawdy design elements.

I also really like the mix of images used for the set – from Willis’ leg-kick to Hanley’s home run swing to Cabrera’s follow through.

It’s all good!  And a steal for just one dollar!
