Tearing Through 8 Packs Of 1991 Upper Deck Baseball Cards!!!

I had more than half of this box sitting around still and I suddenly got the urge to rip through some of them.

And while they don’t have the same effect of tearing open vintage wax packs, the quality of the Upper Deck product makes up for that lost feeling.

I decided to stop after 8 packs as I was beginning to get carried away in a frenzy.  I still have 13 packs left and will hold them for some contests I will run during the 2010 season.

Stay tuned to ’30-YOC’ all day today as I bring you the results of the 8 packs I busted!!!  Thanks.

My First Pack Of 2010 Phungo Cards!!!

I was presently surprised to find a package in the mail recently from Paul over at Phungo.  I’ve avoided contacting Paul recently because I am still a little mad that my favorite active pitcher is now the ace of his favorite team, the Phillies.  If you’re a Marlins fan, there is still a handful of us left, this move was very hurtful of our chances at winning the AL East any time soon.

Maybe this was Paul’s peace-offering – a pack of 2010 Phungo cards.

I quickly ripped them open, and here are the results:

Chris Coghlan- the 2009 NL Rookie of the Year, Aramis Ramirez, Rich Harden, Nick Johnson, and Ivan Rodriguez.

The pack also contained 2 inserts of rare and significant value.  The first insert was the Blue-bordered Harry Caray tribute card that depicts Harry as he leads the Wrigley Faithful in a rendition of ‘Take Me Out To The Ballgame’.  The second insert was the even more rare Black-bordered Harry Kalas Memorial card showing a memorial that the Phillies’ fans made for Kalas after he passed.

I can’t be too mad at Paul right?  After all he sent me this free pack of cards – and some of the cards I pulled seem to be quite rare.  I guess I just need to get over the fact that I will get to see Roy Halladay pitch a lot more than I used to – but this time I will be forced to route against him…

Thanks Paul!!!
