Maybe next time when I scan cards that I score from this set, I will take the extra step and show it off next to the standard-sized base card so you can see just how ‘mini’ the card is.

Here is another sweet card that I scored from the 2014 Topps Archives set that features Jose Fernandez.

The card is mini in size, and as you can see, it borrows the 1987 Topps card design for inspiration.

I have long been a fan of the 1987 Topps ‘Future Stars’ subset and I am really happy to see Jose get a card of his own from it.

As a kid, my favorite ‘Future Stars’ card was the one of Bo Jackson from the 1987 Topps set.  This one above of Jose Fernandez may very well be my favorite modern one.

A great addition to my Jose Fernandez player collection!

This is the Base mini card of Jose Fernandez from the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter set.

I have not picked up too many parallels of my PC guys from the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter set as of yet as most of what I am seeking is too costly for my liking.

Maybe in time I will add a few more cards to my collection of Jose Fernandez from this 2014 A&G set, but if not I am OK where I have left off…

Here is a neat one that I recently scooped up of the 2013 NL ROY:

 

This card comes from the 2014 Panini Prizm set and specifically from the ‘Intuition’ subset.

Panini packed a lot into one card front, but I think it all works really well together.  I especially like how the ‘I’ and ‘N’ in intuition wrap the card upwards and pull it all together.

I cannot wait to get another status update from the Marlins on Jose’s rehab.  My fingers are crossed that he can make 12-14 appearances for the team after the All-Star break in 2015.  And then in 2016, LOOK OUT!!!

I LOVE IT!!!

These cards from the 2014 Topps Archives set take me right back to when I was buying and ripping rack packs of Topps baseball cards as a kid in South Florida during the mid-1980’s.

 

The card style is an exact match to the ‘bonus’ card that each rack pack offered and I am very excited to see that Topps gave one of these cards this year to Jose Fernandez.

As you can see right above the ‘All-Star’ banner, it says 2013.  That was the first All-Star Game selection for Jose Fernandez and Topps has done a nice job of commemorating each of these players’ first ASG selection with this set by tagging their first time right on the top of the card.

A great addition to my Jose Fernandez collection!  Thank you, Topps!

I’ve got quite a way to go with my Jose Fernandez collection strictly based on the number of times he has appeared in 2014 products.

I am up for the challenge, and I prefer to take my ‘slow and easy’ approach so I do not spend more than I need to as I hunt down cards that are tougher to come by than base issues.

I have yet to score Jose’s base mini card from this year’s Allen & Ginter release, but I did pick up his ‘A&G’ card from the set.

And now, I will try to track down the base mini.  It should be easier to find, affordably, than this one..

Would you believe that I am still actively seeking cards from this year’s Series 2 release by Topps?

Well, I am.  And there is no shame in my game.  I’m taking this one nice and slow as the journey is going to be a long one, and one that requires patience and planning.

The below card is the Gold border parallel of Jose’s All-Star Rookie card.  It is my fifth version of this card of Jose from the set, and it is limited to just 2014 copies.  Mine is stamped as 928/2014.

Wish me luck as I push forward with the hope of landing a few more from this release.

I have no shame in the fact that I am still working on bringing cards into my collection that were released both months and years ago.  Part of being a steady player collector is knowing when and how to go after things, and I prefer a more methodical and disciplined approach with most of the stuff that I go after.

After not doing any searches on Ebay for Jose Fernandez cards from the 2014 Topps Heritage set for more than two months, I decided to see what was out there that was still categorized as a ‘Need’ on my list.

And surprisingly, I found this sweet, Black bordered card:

 

I’m digging it!  The Black perfectly complements the shadow under the Marlins flag on the card along with the trim of his undershirt.

I’m very excited to add this card to my collection of 2014 Heritage cards.

As long as they are out there, I will keep chipping away!!

Finally, another 2014 Allen & Ginter baseball card that I like!!!

 

This is Jose Fernandez’s base card from the A&G issue, and it features great action.  And while I know that this is not typical for the Ginter brand I certainly approve of them moving more in this direction as the posed portraits of the same players year-after-year are quite exhaustive…

Keep it up Topps – give us more of this in 2015 and I will be back on board with this brand.
