The Baseball Video That EVERYBODY Is Talking About…

The Baseball Video That EVERYBODY Is Talking About…

Just in case you have not seen the video, or heard the banter, here it is.

This is the reason that Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen and special assistant to the team, Hall of Famer Tony Perez are in the Dominican Republic right now…

Stay tuned.

1984 Headline: Pete Rose Returns To Cincinnati!!!

1984 Headline: Pete Rose Returns To Cincinnati!!!

When this headline hit the papers 25+ years ago I am pretty certain that the feeling in the Cincinnati area was one of sheer joy!!!

A former baseball star was coming back to the city to once again play for and now manage the team that he helped become one of baseball’s greatest dynasties.

What a ride Pete took Reds’ fans on once he came back to the team.  From making history by becoming the game’s all-time hits leader to being banished from the game for gambling.

No matter how you look at it and how you feel about Pete Rose today, you must admit that this was a historic day for the sport back in 1984!!!

77 Seconds Of Classic Eddie Murray!!!

I strongly belive that Eddie Murray is the kind of player that could have been a baseball star in any era.  A guy with tremendous skill as a hitter and power that was not matched by many, Murray is classic!!

Do you agree?  This video could have been shot in the 1950’s, 1980’s, or yesterday….

Beyond Baseball – Joba Chamberlain

Prior to this season, wearing pinstripes had a lot to do with the fame that Joba Chamberlain had seen in his brief career.

This year is a different story as he has found a way to be a solid contributor for a real playoff contending team.

With an 8-4 record, Chamberlain has made an impact on the Yankees team this season and I can say, with much less hesitation or bitterness, that he does deserve some of the star treatment he has received.

And with that, here is a commercial featuring Joba that has been put out my the MLB Network.  Enjoy.

When Prince & Cecil Were Friendly…

The world was a better place.  A place where dads and kids got along.

Cecil Fielder and his son Prince were 2 peas in a pod during Prince’s youth.  In fact, I recall several times during Cecil’s home run hitting days in Detroit that we would see a young Prince around him and the team.  Who knew some twenty years ago that these two would be our first ever Father/Son 50 HR club members…

It’s a shame that these two can’t even be in the same room together…

Hat tip to Mario from Wax Heaven for the video clip!!  Thank you.

Celebrity First Pitch – ‘The Top Ten’

Since the begining of July, I have brought you 39 different videos in my ‘Celebrity First Pitch’ series.  In that group, you have seen actors, presidents, singers, as well as former and current professional athletes take their shot at the ceremonial first pitch of a baseball game.

I am going to put this series to rest for a little while, but I thought today would be a perfect time to present the ‘Top 10’ to you for your viewing pleasure.

To get to this list, I conducted  a very non-sceintific analysis by reviewing the comments, page hits, and natural searches to wittle this list of 39 hopefuls to the ‘Top 10’.
