Did You Know…

Fergie Jenkins 2005 Upper Deck Hall Of Fame Baseball – Green

Fergie Jenkins 2005 Upper Deck Hall Of Fame Baseball – Green

This is the third card from the Upper Deck Hall Of Fame Baseball set that I have added to my Fergie Jenkins collection.

The first card was Silver.

The next one was Gold.

And now, I have the Green!!!

The card is serial numbered as 73/200 and it is the exact same as the other versions.

But, as you guessed it, the card features a Green border.

VINTAGE MARICHAL

Some of the many reasons that I like this one:

  • vintage look
  • great image selection
  • commemorates a significant event
  • strong colors
  • sweet logo
  • clever use of pennant for subset title

Love This Card!!!

Juan Marichal 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Card

Juan Marichal 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Card

As I continue to try to pick up cards from the Gypsy Queen set that features retired players and Hall of Famers, I am still in awe of them as I uncover them one by one.

My most recent pick-up from this set is of Hall of Famer, Juan Marichal.

The card, like most of the others, looks fantastic.  And while I would prefer to see Marichal’s famous leg-kick from his pitching motion featured in the card as well, I do like the detail that a more zoomed-in look provides.

Here is the card:

VINTAGE MARICHAL GQ

Loving the GQ brand!!!

Juan Marichal 2003 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites – 1962 Topps Design

Juan Marichal 2003 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites – 1962 Topps Design

While Juan Marichal was just 24 years old as he entered the 1962 baseball season, he was performing like a veteran.

In just his third major league season, Marichal was quickly becoming the ‘Ace’ of the San Francisco Giants’ pitching staff.

His numbers from the 1962 season include: 36 starts, 18-11 record, 18 complete games, 3 shutouts, 1 save, 3.36 ERA, 262.2 innings pitched, and 153 strikeouts.

Marichal was selected to his first of nine All-Star games in 1962.

VINTAGE MARICHAL FF

This card is sweet.  I have to guess that back n 1962, no team’s look worked better with the ’62 Topps design than the Giants.  The wood-grain border compliments the Giants uniform perfectly!
