Among The ‘Normal’ Guys I Will Be Watching During The 2014 Season, Here Are A Few More I Will Be Paying Attention To As Well…

We are right around 36 hours away from the official start to the 2014 baseball season.  You better believe that I will be starting my day by listening to some games on my IPhone and then ending my night watching my Marlins host the Colorado Rockies.

It is going to be a great season.

In addition to the standard crop of guys that I will be watching as the season progresses, here are a few more guys that I am going to be paying attention to.  Each of them offers a great level of skill and enthusiasm to the game, and I am eager to see how their seasons unfold.

Jose Reyes

Joe Nathan

Tim Lincecum

And of course, Derek Jeter

Have I paid attention to these guys prior to this season?  Of course I have.  But, I believe that each of these guys will have some level of impact on the game this year – both minor and major.  It may be huge headlines, and it may be record-breaking performances, but I think that you will be hearing the names of these players a lot in 2014 – and I am ready!

I cannot wait to watch it all unfold!!

Is there anyone you think is ready to make a huge impact this season?  Are you paying special attention to someone new this year?

Let’s go!

’30-YOC Top Ten Lists’ – ‘Top Ten Guys I’d Like To See Throw A No-Hitter’

’30-YOC Top Ten Lists’ – ‘Top Ten Guys I’d Like To See Throw A No-Hitter’

As you probably know, I watch a lot of baseball.  I would say that 4-5 nights a week, I am tuned into a game, or two if possible.

My team of choice is the Florida Marlins, but I also watch a lot of Rays baseball as well as anything aired by ESPN, especially on Sunday night.

And now with three no-hitters already under our belts for the 2011 season, I thought it would be fun to tell you the ten guys I would really like to see toss a ‘No-No’.

First let me say that Roy Halladay, Justin Verlander, and Matt Garza are not on the list.  I’ve already seen them make baseball history so I know what that looks like.

Here we go:

Honorable Mention – Tim Hudson, Shawn Marcum, and Felix Hernandez.

10 – Chris Carpenter

9 – James Shields

8 – Cole Hamels

7 – CC Sabathia

6 – Cliff Lee

5 – Josh Johnson

4 – David Price

3 – Clayton Kershaw

2 – Josh Beckett

1 – Tim Lincecum

And there you have it.  Did I miss anyone that you would have added to the list??

Let me hear it!!

I’ll Be Watching For History During The 2011 Baseball Season, But I’ll Be Watching These Guys Too…

I’ll Be Watching For History During The 2011 Baseball Season, But I’ll Be Watching These Guys Too…

Last night I told you about some of the amazing baseball history that can be set during the upcoming season.  And while I am very eager to see how all of that plays out as we wait for ‘Opening Day’, I am just as excited to see how these guys are going to do…

Cody Ross – A favorite in my household, Cody is ready to defend his World Series championship in 2011.

Ryan Braun – Quietly putting together an incredible start to his career – should be considered one of the top offensive outfielders in the sport.

Chipper Jones – Back from major offseason surgery, Chipper has so many baseball milestones within reach.  I would love to see him regain his form from just a few seasons ago.

Cameron Maybin – While the Marlins experiment may be over, I’m hoping that a new start in San Diego is just what the doctor ordered for this talented young player.

Manny Ramirez – New team, New attitude.  Manny is ready to prove his doubters wrong.  I hope he does so often…

Roy Halladay – I have to watch the Phillies to see how the division looks.  And while Halladay is my favorite non-Marlins pitcher, I still have to cheer against him.  Something tells me big things are about to happen for him.

Pudge Rodriguez – Looks like he will be the started for the Nationals this year.  A former Marlin, I wish Pudge nothing but success(except when he’s playing against my team).

David Price – I think that he got robbed last year in the Cy Young voting.  I watched him a lot last season, and I expect even more this year as he firmly takes the role of ‘Ace’ for the Rays.

Hanley Ramirez – He says that he wants to be the team’s leader.  And now with his tenure and contract, he should try to prove it every night.  If anyone in the game can do 40/40, it’s Hanley!!!

Man, I cannot wait for the season to start!!!

We’re just a few short days away…  Who do you have your eyes on this year???

Tell me all about it!!

Well, well, well… Look At Who Has The Best Record In Baseball…

Well, well, well…  Look At Who Has The Best Record In Baseball…

It’s not the New York Yankees…

Or the Philadelphia Phillies.

It’s not the St. Louis Cardinals….

And it’s definitely not the Boston Red Sox.

It is however, the Tampa Bay Rays.  And through the first month of the 2010 baseball season, they are the only team winning at greater than a 70% clip.  Sitting in 1st place in the AL East with a 18-7 record, the Rays are one of the hottest teams in baseball.  And again, they are proving that talent trumps money spent, and I enjoy that about their team.

With a roster that is full of multi-skilled players, the Rays play with a high amount of confidence and no longer look like the lowly cellar dwellers that they were during the early part of the decade.  The team is a great mix of speed, power, and contact hitting – and that is even with some of their better hitters slumping early in the season.  Their confidence is solid, and once all of their players are clicking on all cylinders, they should become even more successful.

While I am a Marlins fan first and foremost, I watch a lot of Rays games as well.  My cable company(yes, cable) carries two Florida sports channels so I get to see a ton of games from both teams.  Thank goodness for picture-in-picture viewing!!!  And while just 3-4 years ago, I was tuning into the Rays to see their opposition play, times have clearly changed.  Evan Longoria is extremely fun to watch.  Carl Crawford and BJ Upton are dynamic on both offense and defense.  Matt Garza is great on the mound.  And so on and so on…

Congratulations to the Rays on an incredible start to their 2010 season!!!
