Million Dollar Question – Who Is Your #1 Draft Pick In Fantasy Baseball?

Million Dollar Question – Who Is Your #1 Draft Pick In Fantasy Baseball?

The draft for ’30-YOC’ fantasy baseball is this Sunday evening.  And I pretty much have my strategy in place for how I want to attack the 2014 season.  Equally, I am always curious to see what others would do if they had the first pick in the draft.

Do you go with the crafty veteran that is putting up unreal numbers?  Do you go with the young guy who has become elite almost overnight?  Or do you go with the most consistent pitcher in the game?

For me, I tend to lead towards consistency with my picks, but I have also never been awarded with the #1 pick in any draft in which I have been a part of so I have never had to make that single, crucial decision.

Maybe this year that will change.  Maybe not…

But, I am ready to have fun on draft night as I craft my roster.

What would you do if you had the #1 pick???

Who Wants To Play Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’???

Are You Ready For Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’???

Not only am I ready for the start of the 2014 major league baseball season, but I am also very excited for  the 2014 fantasy baseball season as well.

My platform of choice?  Yahoo Fantasy Baseball.

And I want to run my own league again this year.  Last season was a ton of fun, and I am eager to see if there is enough interest out there for me to fill up a 12-player league with friends of ’30-YOC’.

If you want to play, please let me know by leaving a comment on this post.  My preferred style of play is rotisserie, and I use the live draft feature for selection of my players.  I try to hold the draft on a Sunday night so it is more convenient for all players.

Each league consists of twelve players, and I have 10 returning players from last season returning for 2014.

So, if you want one of the final two manager spots in the league, leave me a comment on this post and I will send you the details.

Thanks for reading.  Now who is ready to ‘Play Ball’???

UPDATE: 3 SPOTS REMAIN – Who Wants To Play Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’????

Who Wants To Play Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’????

I am a big fan of fantasy baseball.  And while I don’t get too consumed with the ultra-competitive leagues that are out there, I find the idea of selecting my own roster and managing my players to be a fun one.

My platform of choice?  Yahoo Fantasy Baseball.

Last year I created a league, for the great readers of this blog to join, with the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball website and I am ready to do it again as we prepare for the 2013 baseball season to begin.

I’ve already spoken with my buddy Ryan who won last year’s championship and he is very confident that he can do it again!!

Anyone think that they can take him down?  Want to give it a shot??

If so, please let me know by leaving a comment on this post.  My preferred style of play is rotisserie, and I use the auto-draft versus live draft feature for selection of my players.

Each league consists of twelve teams, so I am looking for eleven people to join me.  Ryan has already confirmed that he wants to defend his crown so I am now seeking ten more players to help me form the league.  As soon as people start showing interest, I will email out the league name and password in a first come, first served basis.  I will cap the entries at ten, and if more people want to play I will either create a waiting list or if the demand warrants, I’ll create another league.

Welcome to ‘League 30-YOC’!!!

Now who is ready to ‘Play Ball’???

2 SPOTS REMAIN – Who Wants To Play Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’???

2 SPOTS REMAIN – Who Wants To Play Fantasy Baseball With ’30-Year Old Cardboard’???

The title of this post says it all, there are two open spots left in the 12-team league that I have created for Yahoo Fantasy Baseball.

So, if you are interested in playing with me and 11 other baseball and baseball card collecting pals, let me know and I will send you a link with the details of how you can join our league.

I’d really like to fill this league with readers of this blog versus opening it up to the public, but if all 12 spots are not full by Sunday night, that is exactly what I will do.

If you want in, leave me a comment on this post and I will get back to you qucikly.

Thanks – Now come ‘Play Ball’ with your boy!!!!

I have always joined public leagues and just caught on with a group of people who I do not know.  It has been fun, and I have done a decent job of placing in the ‘Top 3’ a handful of times.

I was contemplating about creating my own league this year, and wanted to see if the great readers of this blog had any interest in joining me.

FANTASY BASEBALL CHAMPION!!!

FANTASY BASEBALL CHAMPION!!!

It has been a few years since I placed in the top spot in my fantasy baseball league so allow me to gloat for a minute.  Or two…  🙂

For the entirety of the season it was a 2-man race, with myself and the second place player alternating spots several times during the season.

But, when it mattered most, I took control of the league and ended up winning the crown!!!  Here is a look at the final leaderboard:

While I do admit that fantasy baseball has an element of luck, I do think that I picked a pretty solid team, in which several of the players had career years.  Special thanks go out to Justin Verlander, Mike Stanton, Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira, Jacoby Ellsbury, Howie Kendrick, Heath Bell, Ryan Roberts, Matt Weiters, and the rest of the guys!!!

See you all in 2012!!!

With Just Two Weeks Left In The Fantasy Baseball Season, My Team Is Soaring!!!!

With Just Two Weeks Left In The Fantasy Baseball Season, My Team Is Soaring!!!!

I have to admit that I am a little surprised that I have been able to maintain this lead in my league.  I have been dealing with a lot of injuries, all season long to be honest, but somehow I have prevailed.

I guess an extremely solid pitching rotation, and a few breakthrough seasons really helps, huh???

Here is the current standings:

That’s me five points ahead of my only competition!!!
