Billy Williams 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts – ‘A Stitch In Time’ – Game Used Jersey Card

Billy Williams 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts – ‘A Stitch In Time’ – Game Used Jersey Card

Not a bad score this time around.  As a matter of fact, I have added more game-used relic cards of Billy Williams to my collection in 2012 than base cards.

I’ll have to change that as I would really like to be able to finish of my PC of Williams.  Maybe I can make that a reality in 2013.

As for the newest card in my Billy Williams collection, it is from the 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts set.  And the ‘Stitch In Time’ theme is a sweet one.

Have a look at the card:

I told you it was nice!

I haven’t been too lucky recently when it comes to adding new cards to my Billy Williams collection.  And when I say ‘new’, I mean both vintage and modern.

So, while my official check list does not get one more check added due to knocking off another card for the set, I am still pretty pleased with this pick-up.

The card is from the 2001 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts set.  And best of all, it features a more rare Cubs’ jersey swatch.

Have a look:

Yessir – that is Powder-Blue with a nice bright, White pinstripe!!!

YES!!!

Billy Williams 2001 Upper Deck Cooperstown Collection Authentic Bat Card

If it wasn’t for the horizontal grain of the piece of lumber used on this Game-Used bat card of Billy Williams, you may not even know that the card is a relic card.

Overall, I like the card, but it is far from super.  The tones are just way too close to one another – nothing stands out, nothing pops, nothing leaps from the cardboard.

There is not a single element of this baseball card that truly draws your eye.  In fact, it feels more like a test to find something unique.

And if it wasn’t for the fact that this card features one of my favorite old-school players, I would probably classify this one as a ‘FAIL’.

Billy Williams saves the day – and the card too!!!

Billy Williams 2008 Playoff Prime Cuts Game-Used Jersey Card

I am really starting to like the jersey numbered cut-outs of these relic cards.  They add a very nice touch, and it certainly helps when a Cubs’ pinstripe is flowing through it as well.

For proof of that, see my latest acquisition:

Nice, huh?

This card features Hall of Famer Billy Williams, and the number 26 that he made famous while playing left-field for the Chicago Cubs during the 1960s and 1970s.

This baseball card is serial numbered as 5/75 – and I believe that it is the nicest relic card that I own of Mr. Williams.

So far…  🙂

Billy Williams 2009 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts – ‘Legendary Materials’ – Game Used Jersey Card

While not an official ‘goal’ of 2012, I do want to acquire some more modern-era cards of Billy Williams during the new year.

I am still roughly 6-7 cards away from obtaining each card that was issued of him during his playing days, but some of them carry a pretty hefty price tag.  So, as I shop for them, I will go after the modern stuff as well.

The first card that I scored is a Game-Used relic card from the 2009 SP ‘Legendary Materials’ set.  And she is a beauty.  And she is numbered to just 80/100 copies.

A fantastic addition to my collection that honors ‘Sweet Swinging Billy Williams’!!!

Enjoy.

There is no doubt that Billy Williams belongs in this set.  One of the most famous Chicago Cubs of all-time, Williams was a fan favorite at Wrigley Field for 16 magnificent seasons.

Williams’ impressive resume displays the following – Rookie of the Year(1961), 2-time runner up for the MVP(’70 & ’72), 6-time All-star, Batting Title(’72), 2,711 career hits, 426 home runs, 1,410 runs scored, 1,475 RBI, and a career batting average of .290.

And the fact that this card features a Grey swatch from one of Williams’ Cubs jerseys is simply icing on the cake!!!

Enjoy.

Billy Williams 2008 Upper Deck SP ‘Legendary Memorabilia’ Game-Used Jersey Card

It has been months since I added a new Billy Williams baseball card to my collection.  More than 4 months to be exact…

So, when I saw this card on Ebay with the very low asking price of $0.99, I placed my bid, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.  And you know what, I WON!!!  Not only did I win this card, but I grabbed a few more from the same set; and I will show them off in time.

The card comes from the 2008 Upper Deck Sp Legendary Memorabilia set, and it features a swatch of Green jersey.  And since Billy Williams did not wear Green during his time in Chicago, I think that it is safe to say that this piece of jersey is from him time with the Oakland A’s.

Numbered 66/99, I am thrilled to finally add a new card to my collection that pays tribute to Williams.

I think I am going to have to go for a few more!!!
