’30-YOC Top Ten Lists’ – ‘Top Ten Michael Jackson Songs’

’30-YOC Top Ten Lists’ – ‘Top Ten Michael Jackson Songs’

A very entertaining and energy-filled conversation broke out in the breakroom at lunch the other day.  And it all started with a cell phone ring tone…

One of the girl’s eating with us got a call and our ears were filled with Michael Jackson while her phone rang.  The conversation among the rest of us quickly turned to MJ and soon after the question was asked, ‘What is your favorite Michael Jackson song?’

Well, there were seven of us in there, and six different songs were named as favorites.  But we all left the conversation with the conclusion that everyone has a favorite tune by Michael.

So, without further ado, here are my ‘Top Ten Michael Jackson Songs’.

Honorable Mention:  Say Say Say, Remember The Time, This Is It, Bad, Black or White, Working Day & Night, You Are Not Alone, Off The Wall, Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, and Man In The Mirror.

10 – Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough

9 – Will You Be There

8 – Thriller

7 – Billie Jean

6 – The Way You Make Me Feel

Happy Birthday Hulk Hogan!!!

The ‘Hulkster’ turns 56 years old today!!!

What can be said about the man that put the entire wrestling industry on his back and carried it through the 1980’s?  Hulk Hogan is an absolute legend and what he did for professional  wrestling will always make him a fan favorite.

As a kid he taught us how to train hard, say your prayers, and take your vitamins.  As a young adult he taught me how to ‘give the finger’ to authority.  And as a young father he has taught me how to stand by and enjoy each and every moment that I can with my children.

Thank you Hulkster for making such a strong and powerful impact on my life.  I am a Hulk-a-Maniac and I will be for the rest of my life!!!

Remembering Michael Jackson.

I’m not trying to report this news days after the world was shocked and saddened by the death of Michael Jackson.

I, like many of you, have spent a lot more time in the last few days thinking about Michael and the incredible talents he shared with us.  I dug out my CD’s and have been glued to the constant stream of programming that has been airing about Michael since Thursday.  And while I became less of a fan of his work after his ‘Bad’ album, there is no denying the impact he has left on the music, pop, and dance industries.   He will always be remembered as an entertainer first, which is exactly how a ground breaking artist should be thought of!!!

It has taken a few days to dig out, and that is the reason this post is a few days late, but I have found a ticket stub from my very first concert.  As a 9-year old boy, my family went to the Orange Bowl in Miami to see Michael and the Jackson 5’s Victory tour.  My memories of the show are vague, but I do recall a sold out stadium of 60,000+ fans screaming for hours as the ‘King of Pop’ and his talented brothers entertained us for a few hours on that night.  I remember the screaming girls, the lights, and what stands out the most was the reaction of the crowd when Michael was alone on the stage performing ‘Billie Jean’ for all of us.

It was an amazing night, and even though I was very far away from the stage I had an awesome experience and it is one that I will never forget.

Here is the ticket from that amazing concert. jacksons

Rest in peace, Michael!!!

The King of Pop is 50 Years Old Today!!!

What is left to say about Michael Jackson that hasn’t already been said??  Probably nothing at all.

So I will just say ‘Happy Birthday Michael’.

I remember seeing you in concert in 1984 when I was 9 years old.  I was in the last row of the upper deck at the Orange Bowl in Miami with my family.  I remember wearing my Silver glove to the show and staying out way past my bedtime.  At the time you were at the pinnacle of your career with the release of ‘Thriller’.

With everything that you have been through and supposedly put others through over the last 20 years, I will sit back and prefer to remember you this way and this was only…

Man I feel old!

Happy Birthday Mike Maddux !?!

Mike who?  You mean Greg, right??

No, I mean Mike.  Today is Mike’s 47th birthday.  He is Greg Maddux’s older brother.  He was a major league pitcher for 15 years, and finished his career with a 39-37 record.

That got me to thinking, what could Mike Maddux possibly want for his birthday…

Let’s see maybe he would like 314 more victories or 2793 more strikeouts or 4 Cy Young Awards or 8 All-Star game appearances or 16 Gold Gloves or 1 World Series ring.

Wow, little brother really out shined big brother huh??  Anyway, Happy Birthday Mike!!

Nice mustache too…
