Among The ‘Normal’ Guys I Will Be Watching During The 2014 Season, Here Are A Few More I Will Be Paying Attention To As Well…

We are right around 36 hours away from the official start to the 2014 baseball season.  You better believe that I will be starting my day by listening to some games on my IPhone and then ending my night watching my Marlins host the Colorado Rockies.

It is going to be a great season.

In addition to the standard crop of guys that I will be watching as the season progresses, here are a few more guys that I am going to be paying attention to.  Each of them offers a great level of skill and enthusiasm to the game, and I am eager to see how their seasons unfold.

Jose Reyes

Mark Teixeira

Joe Nathan

Tim Lincecum

Gio Gonzalez

Billy Hamilton

David Price

And of course, Derek Jeter

Have I paid attention to these guys prior to this season?  Of course I have.  But, I believe that each of these guys will have some level of impact on the game this year – both minor and major.  It may be huge headlines, and it may be record-breaking performances, but I think that you will be hearing the names of these players a lot in 2014 – and I am ready!

I cannot wait to watch it all unfold!!

Is there anyone you think is ready to make a huge impact this season?  Are you paying special attention to someone new this year?

Let’s go!

My First Time – Joe Nathan – April 21, 1999

My First Time – Joe Nathan – April 21, 1999

The Setting – 3Com Park.  San Francisco, CA.

From Nathan – ‘My first start was against the Marlins.  I had got there the night before and was able to scout a bit – watch the hitters up close and all that.  I did real well, seven shutout innings – they gave me the game ball and lineup card’.

The Boxscore – Giants 4, Marlins 0.  Nathan gets the win, throwing 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4 batters.

9th Spring Training TTM Return – Joe Nathan!!

9th Spring Training TTM Return – Joe Nathan!!

Well into the 2010 baseball season, it is great to still get mail from Spring Training.  TTM return #9 comes from Minnesota Twins closer, Joe Nathan.

Out with an injury that will likely keep him sidelined for the duration of the 2010 season, it is nice to see that Nathan is doing well enough to maintain his great TTM reputation.  All it took was 68 days for him to return these 2 cards to me – and they are beautifully signed!!!

Nathan is one of my favorite closers in the game today.  The picture of steady and consistent work, Nathan has collected 246 saves over the last 6 seasons, ranging from 36-47 in each of those years.  I just wish my Marlins would employ a closer of his skill level…

Thank you for the great autographs Mr. Nathan.  I wish you a fast and speedy recovery.  See you in 2011!!!

Joe Mauer & Joe Nathan ‘Take It Outside’

A pretty entertaining commercial featuring 2 of the Minnesota Twins best player – Joe Mauer & Joe Nathan!

‘Take It Outside’ guys…  Enjoy!!
