Baseball Card Show Purchase #8 – Lot Of 2 Reggie Jackson & Rickey Henderson 1981 Kellogg’s 3-D Super Stars

Baseball Card Show Purchase #8 – Lot Of 2 Reggie Jackson & Rickey Henderson 1981 Kellogg’s 3-D Super Stars

I paid $1 for each of these baseball cards, and they are instant ‘hits’ in my collections of both Rickey Henderson and Reggie Jackson.

Of the two cards, my favorite is the Henderson.  If you look closely, you can see that he is sporting the number 35 on his back.  That means that this picture was taken very early in his career – and I really like that!!!

I am digging the Kellogg’s cards from the 1970s and 1980s – I really wish that they had included Andre Dawson in a few of their releases!!!

Fergie Jenkins 2004 Donruss Classics – Legendary Lumberjacks

Fergie Jenkins 2004 Donruss Classics – Legendary Lumberjacks

I’m racking up Fergie Jenkins card as we get close to the end of the collecting year.  And while I may not hit a ‘landmark’ number by the close of 2011, this collection is rounding into incredible shape.

And the number of serial number cards of Fergie that I have been picking up continues to increase as well.

This one, numbered as 910/1000, comes from the 2004 Donruss Classics ‘Legendary Lumberjacks’ set.  I love the set’s design, with my favorite parts being the cluster of bats in the lower-right corner of the card.  I have to say that I really like the font that was used on the ‘Legendary Lumberjacks’ headline too.

Fergie Jenkins 1998 Fleer – Legends Of The Game

Fergie Jenkins 1998 Fleer – Legends Of The Game

The name of this card, ‘Legends Of The Game’, promises so much more than what the card actually delivers…

Have a peek:

Not to exciting huh?  Yeah, I don’t really think so either.

In fact, I find it to be rather boring.  Still, it is another card to add to my official Fergie Jenkins collection.  I just wish that it was a bit more appealing and enjoyable.

Oh, yeah – it’s oddball time!!!

And way before the dozens of companies tried to get into the baseball card game as it exploded during the late 1980’s there was Kellogg’s.

Yes, I said Kellogg’s – the cereal company.

For almost a full decade, Kellogg’s issued limited edition baseball cards and inserted them in their boxes of cereal.

Today, I have added my first one to my Fergie Jenkins collection.  Hopefully this is just the first of many…

Issued in 1980, while Fergie was playing for the Rangers, the set consisted of 60 cards.  Fergie is number 47/60.

For this issue, Kellogg’s added a nice 3-D element.

A fantastic addition to my Fergie Jenkins collection!!!
