Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Mini – Base

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Mini – Base

While the scan does not show it, this is the Jose Fernandez base card from the 2014 Topps Mini card set.

Maybe next time when I scan cards that I score from this set, I will take the extra step and show it off next to the standard-sized base card so you can see just how ‘mini’ the card is.

Maybe next time..

For now, enjoy this card of the 2013 NL ROY!

Florida Marlins 2007 SP Authentic Team Set

Florida Marlins 2007 SP Authentic Team Set

The Upper Deck SP brand has always offered us some pretty sweet looking baseball card designs.

The SP line-up tends to bring great color and style while still allowing for the image of the card to be the centerpiece.

The 2007 Upper Deck SP set is no different – the design of the set is nice and the colors are sharp.

The Marlins portion of that 2007 set is just three cards, but they are definitely three stars.

Yeah Baby!!  That’s Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, and Dontrelle Willis.

I LOVE IT!!

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Archives – 1987 Topps ‘Future Stars’ Design

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Archives – 1987 Topps ‘Future Stars’ Design

Here is another sweet card that I scored from the 2014 Topps Archives set that features Jose Fernandez.

The card is mini in size, and as you can see, it borrows the 1987 Topps card design for inspiration.

I have long been a fan of the 1987 Topps ‘Future Stars’ subset and I am really happy to see Jose get a card of his own from it.

As a kid, my favorite ‘Future Stars’ card was the one of Bo Jackson from the 1987 Topps set.  This one above of Jose Fernandez may very well be my favorite modern one.

A great addition to my Jose Fernandez player collection!

Florida Marlins 1998 Topps Gallery Team Set

Florida Marlins 1998 Topps Gallery Team Set

The Topps Gallery brand is one that I have always liked and hoped that Topps continued to produce.

Of the cards that I have picked up of vintage players on modern designs, the Topps Gallery product stands tall.  The cards are unique, and they offer a nice, artsy look and feel to them.

A few weeks ago, when I started shopping for more Marlins team sets to add to my collection, I purposely set out to find an Ebay seller that had complete Marlins team sets from the Topps Gallery brand.  My search did not net me too many results to shop from, but I was able to score this team set from their 1998 release:

While this product is not as nice as some of the other Gallery issues that came after, it still does offer that Gallery vibe.

Personally, I enjoy the Gallery product when the cards offer images that are a bit more zoomed in and detailed.

Still, a neat set for my team set project.  That Livan Hernandez card, in the upper-right corner, is SWEET!

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter – Mini Base

Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter – Mini Base

I’m not going to spend too much time on this one…

This is the Base mini card of Jose Fernandez from the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter set.

I have not picked up too many parallels of my PC guys from the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter set as of yet as most of what I am seeking is too costly for my liking.

Maybe in time I will add a few more cards to my collection of Jose Fernandez from this 2014 A&G set, but if not I am OK where I have left off…

Jose Fernandez 2014 Panini Prizm ‘Intuition’

Jose Fernandez 2014 Panini Prizm ‘Intuition’

Here is a neat one that I recently scooped up of the 2013 NL ROY:

This card comes from the 2014 Panini Prizm set and specifically from the ‘Intuition’ subset.

Panini packed a lot into one card front, but I think it all works really well together.  I especially like how the ‘I’ and ‘N’ in intuition wrap the card upwards and pull it all together.

I cannot wait to get another status update from the Marlins on Jose’s rehab.  My fingers are crossed that he can make 12-14 appearances for the team after the All-Star break in 2015.  And then in 2016, LOOK OUT!!!

Florida Marlins 2002 Fleer Ultra Team Set

Florida Marlins 2002 Fleer Ultra Team Set

The Fleer Ultra baseball card product has always been a favorite of mine.  The card style features minimal graphics and larger, in-action pictures.  Each card kind of feels like a small photograph due to the border-less style that Ultra has employed since debuting in the early 1990’s.

I recently picked up the 2002 Ultra team set of the Florida Marlins, and like all Ultra products, the cards are sweet.

Have a look:

Just 6 cards deep, this set offers up a ton of various baseball scenes – all packed with action.

Of the six, my favorite is the Mike Lowell card that shows him scooping up a high-hopping ball as he prepares to make a play from third base.
