‘On The Road With psugator02′ – Dennis Rodman – December 16, 2010

Thursday, December 16
Mardis Gras Casino
Hallandale, Fla.
5:20-6:10 p.m.

I have to send a shout-out to my boy Sal. He’s new to the board, but he is officially cool enough to hang with “The Gator” (I know he’s laughing as he reads this LOL). I’ll admit I doubted him a bit. His text said “The Worm” was going to be doing a radio show from a local casino. I turned on the station and couldn’t find anyone talking sports, nor did I hear Rodman or any mention of him. Sal is pretty good with his info, though, so I called the station and got the station manager’s number. Dude couldn’t have been cooler as he told me “The Worm” would be at the casino from 5-6.

I jetted down the turnpike and arrived about 5:15 p.m. Only about 10 people were gathered in the poker room listening to the show. Don’t think Rodman or the host even talked sports…mostly banging women, going to strip clubs, etc. But it was pretty entertaining. As I stood there and listened I befriended Rodman’s manager, a University of Florida grad. Once Rodman finished up he said he was in a hurry and wouldn’t have time for pictures. I asked him again for the picwith, telling him that A.J. promised he’d do it. The first grapher who took the picture chopped off both our heads, so I had a poker player I had been talking to take the second pic and it came out beautifully. Rodman also stopped to sign a few graphs. I was first in line and he told me that he would do two — and only two — of my magazines, which was fine. One was a dupe anyway, and the other was a duel with Jordan and if he had done that then I would’ve felt obligated to get MJ LOL.

As Rodman walked away he asked if he’d see me again at the next event (this one at a strip club). A strip club? Why of course. Rodman even tweeted me. Check it out:

Celebrity First Pitch – Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Here is possibly the tallest ‘First Pitch’ ever thrown out at a baseball game.  None other than Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer, the great Kareem Abdul -Jabbar.

I’ve always admired Kareem as a player, and I have to admit that seeing him in the movie “Airplane” made me an even bigger fan of his!!!  ‘My name is Roger Murdoch, I’m an airplane pilot.’

Celebrity First Pitch – Derek Fisher

Derek Fisher is one of the classiest guys you will find in the NBA.  A true ‘workhorse’, Fisher has been a solid contributor over the span of his career and he has helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to 4 NBA championship titles.

It’s only fitting that he has had the chance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers game!!!

Celebrity First Pitch – Dwyane Wade

Does it get any better than the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade throwing out the first pitch to Marlin’s superstar Hanley Ramirez???  I don’t think so!!!

While I don’t condone the antics of Dwyane Wade in regards to his methods of sending message’s to the Heat’s front office about his future, I do admire his desire to win.  He appears to want to win so badly that he won’t re-sign with our team until they make moves to ensure a potential run at another title.  While this is commendable, it also shows his immaturity as he has been sending quite a few messages through the media outlets around town.  While it won’t tarnish anything he has done on the court, he’s one of the game’s best players, it certainly doesn’t help his public image.

Best of luck to Dwyane and the Heat during the upcoming season – I hope the 2 sides can iron out their differences and focus on making this team a contender again!!!  LET’S GO HEAT!!!
