Andre Dawson 2014 Topps ‘Rookie Class Of 1976’ Commemorative Class Ring Card

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps ‘Rookie Class Of 1976’ Commemorative Class Ring Card

When it comes down to it, I guess that I really don’t mind the manufactured relic cards that puzzle so many other collectors.

I find them to be kind of neat, and a nice way to commemorate a player or event.

What does puzzle me about these kinds of cards is how some of them continue to demand top-dollar while others can be had pretty inexpensively.

I have been able to snag a handful of manufactured relic cards over the last few years.  And while I know that the player being featured on the card is what ultimately drives the price and interest level of the public, I have been able to grab some great ones very affordably.

Like this one here of Andre Dawson from the 2014 Topps Series 1 ‘Rookie Class’ set.

I love it!  The card features a sweet, vintage photo of ‘Hawk’ from his early days in Montreal.  And the ring-looking metal insert is a nice touch for the ‘Class Of’ theme.

It took me a while to grab one of these for my collection, but my patience paid off and I was able to land one for my collection in my price range.

A great addition to my Andre Dawson PC.

Here Is My Andre Dawson 3-Card 2013 Panini America’s Pastime Career Numbers Relic Set

Here Is My Andre Dawson 3-Card 2013 Panini America’s Pastime Career Numbers Relic Set

I’ve never really tried to put together a complete relic set from a specific product of a specific player at any time.

For me, there is just too much involved with attempting to do that.  Too many cards, too many low-serial numbered cards, and more likely than not – t0o expensive to go after.

Still, I do try to grab what I can, when I can.

And I have been able to pick-up three different cards of Andre Dawson from the relic set of 2013 Panini America’s Pastime tagged as ‘Career Numbers’.

Each card is serial numbered to just 125 copies, and they all celebrate Andre’s 438 career home runs.

Here are the three cards:

As you can see, I have grabbed the Cubby Blue, the home White, and the home White with pinstripe.

I have no idea if other versions of the same card exist. But, if they do and if they can be had affordably, I will do what I can to expand this set past three cards.

Wish me luck!

I’d been hunting down this bad-boy for a few weeks, and I finally scored.

Have a peek:

I already owned the version with the White chunk of jersey.

And then I snagged the one that has a White chunk with a Cubby Blue stripe running through it.

And now, I have grabbed the All-Blue version!

This sweet card is serial numbered to just 125 copies.  Mine is stamped as #6/125.

I don’t now if other versions of the same card exist with varying pieces of jersey, but I am definitely on the watch for them.  And if one pops up, I will do my best to bring it home.

Do you know more about the other versions?  If you do, please share the info.  Thanks.

‘Ultimate Dawson’ Soars To New Levels!!

Ultimate Dawson‘ Soars To New Levels!!

If you missed it last night, I showed off my latest and greatest Andre Dawson autograph conquests  – another ball for my collection and a signed 1977 Topps Rookie card.

Here they are one more time:

DAWSON AUTO 1977 ROOKIE DAWSON HITS BALL

I’m still thrilled at how both pieces came out and even more excited about how nicely they add quality and depth to my ‘Ultimate Dawson‘ collection.

If you haven’t been to the page recently, you should really stop by and check it out.  It is truly the greatest part of my collection – and it has been a joy putting it together, piece by piece, over the last 6 years.

I cannot wait to see what comes next!!

Thanks for reading.

An Amazing Andre Dawson “Mail Day” For 30-YOC!!

An Amazing Andre Dawson “Mail Day” For 30-YOC!!

Friends, I have had a lot of great ‘mail days’ since I started this blog.  There have been great purchases.  There have been incredible trades.  There have been fantastic gift.

But, today’s ‘Mail Day’ is just a tad more special, and a tad more unique.

I sent a package to Andre Dawson a few weeks ago, after all of the MLB All-Star and HOF induction festivities were done.

And on Saturday, that package was returned to me with two great items enclosed.

For starters, I was able to add another signed baseball to my collection, that would be Andre Dawson signed ball #18 for my collection.

As with all of the balls in my Dawson collection, I sought out another unique inscription – this time going for a career achievement.

Have a look:

DAWSON HITS BALL

Yep, it is a ball celebrating Andre’s 2,774 career hits.  And it is a perfect complement to my other achievement balls.

The next item is the one that I am really excited about.

Are you ready?

You sure?

Buckle Up…

DAWSON AUTO 1977 ROOKIE

Yessir, that is a 1977 Topps signed rookie card.

I have wanted a signed rookie card in my collection for a very long time and I have no idea why I waited as long as I did to get this one done. But, now that it is home, I can officially scratch it off of my ‘Want List’.  And trust me when I tell you, it  has been on that list for years!!

Two fantastic items – two great additions to the collection that honors my favorite baseball player of all-time!!

Happy Monday.

Andre Dawson 2005 Upper Deck SP ‘Glory Days’ Red Border Game-Used Patch Card!

Andre Dawson 2005 Upper Deck SP ‘Glory Days’ Red Border Game-Used Patch Card!

I’ve got a small stack of cards featuring Andre Dawson from the 2005 Upper Deck SP set tagged as ‘Glory Days’.

I’ve always been a fan of the card design and colors – I’ve got the base card, some serial number cards, a relic card, and even a certified autograph card.

Well, now I have a card that features a sweet patch too.  The card is serial numbered to just 50 copies, with mine being #40/50.  It’s a Red-border parallel and the Red is a perfect complement to the patch that is featured on the card.

Have a look:

I’m really digging this one.  The card is so nice, and it all looks very good put together as UD did in 2005.

I really like how the Red from Dawson’s jersey and helmet pop as they are a much lighter shade of Red than the jersey patch and Glory Days border.

A fantastic addition to my Andre Dawson relic collection, indeed!

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Dual Jersey Relic Card – NICE!

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Dual Jersey Relic Card – NICE!

First, I gave you the single relic card that offered up the White jersey swatch with the Blue pinstripe.

Then, I posted the single relic card that had a full ‘Cubby Blue’ swatch as the centerpiece.

And now, I have another great card of Andre Dawson from the 2014 Topps Tier 1 set to show off.

This one features two piece of game-used jersey.  Yes, I said TWO!

And trust me when I tell you, it looks fantastic.

Each of the dual relic cards from the 2014 Topps Tier 1 set are stamped and serial numbered to 50 copies.  The one that I grabbed of Andre is numbered as 45/50.

I don’t know how these keep landing in my lap, but for the price that they are, I am not complaining.  My relic card collection of Andre is growing rapidly as is my admiration for the Tier 1 product.

Yeah Buddy!

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Jersey Relic Card – Cubby Blue!!

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Jersey Relic Card – Cubby Blue!!

Last week I showed you the first card I bought of Andre Dawson from the 2014 Topps Tier 1 set.

That card featured a White piece of jersey material with a sweet Royal Blue pinstripe accent running vertically through it.

Tonight, I take it a step further as I have another one to show off.

This time around, there is no pinstripe.  Sorry.

But, there is this…

img498

That’s right – an All-Blue jersey swatch.  And it’s not just any shade of Blue, it is ‘Cubby Blue’.  And it looks fantastic.

The card is serial numbered as 133/399 and it is a great complementary piece to the card I featured last week.

It’s been a while since I picked up two relic cards from the same release of Andre.  It’s nice to have been able to affordably grab these for my collection as I have seen Tier 1 relics sell for quite a bit more in the past…

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Jersey Relic Card – SWEET!!!

Andre Dawson 2014 Topps Tier 1 Game-Used Jersey Relic Card – SWEET!!!

I cannot believe that I was able to snag this card for as low of a price as I did.  And with no competition too!

The Topps Tier 1 set is a high-end product that offers relic and autographed baseball cards of both modern and royalty in the baseball world.  Boxes of this product are expensive, and they only offer 8 cards per box.  But, hits are guaranteed.  Still, I prefer to shop for singles from the in the secondary market.

And when the set dropped, I immediately started watching the relic cards of Andre Dawson to see how the would be priced and sold to see if adding one to my collection would be a possibility.

And finally, after a few weeks of watching and waiting, I nailed it!!

I brought home this beauty for less than $5.00 – and that includes my shipping fees.

img454

The card is serial numbered as 233/399 and as you can see in the above scan, it features a very nice piece of Cubs jersey that is punctuated by a Royal Blue, Cubs pinstripe running vertically.

I’m digging this one.  A great addition to my Dawson Game-Used collection.  Yeah buddy!
