FINALLY, A Yogi Berra Signed Baseball For My Collection!!!!

FINALLY, A Yogi Berra Signed Baseball For My Collection!!!!

First, I tried to get one signed for free.  And I failed.

Then I tried to get one with a donation to his foundation.  And I failed.

From there I knew that if I wanted one, I would have to shop for it.  So I did.

I shopped…

and shopped….

and shopped some more….

and then I landed one.  And it is a beauty!!!

Check it out:

A beautifully signed Yogi Berra baseball – perfectly centered on the sweet-spot of the baseball.

Yogi offers up a pretty small autograph, but it is unmistakable – and this one happens to be PSA certified, ultimately making my purchase even better!!

An instant classic for my collection – this one is worthy of landing a spot on the ‘Top Row’…

Enjoy!!!

Another Fantastic TTM Success With Yogi Berra!!!!

Another Fantastic TTM Success With Yogi Berra!!!!

I have so much going on tonight, but there was no way that I was not going to take five minutes out of my evening to show off this:

Signed beautifully by one of the greatest and most legendary New York Yankees of all-time, I am thrilled that Yogi Berra signed this card for me!!!

Thank you Mr. Berra!!!

TTM Success: Yogi Berra! If At First You Don’t Success, Try, Try, Again!!!

TTM Success: Yogi Berra!  If At First You Don’t Success, Try, Try, Again!!!

There are so many things that I can say…

There are so many valuable lessons that can be learned from this…

These are the things that I reinforce with my children on a daily basis…

And while maybe not as life-altering of a scenario, the fact remains the same that both patience and persistence pay off!!!

Now, after three attempts, I have added a Yogi Berra autograph to my baseball card collection.

Waiting for me in my mailbox tonight, a new jewel for the collection.  And now, I share it with you!!!

Enjoy!!

And ‘THANK YOU” Mr. Berra!!!

Can My Third Time Be A Charm??? Come on Yogi!!!!

Can My Third Time Be A Charm???

I cannot resist – because the prize is soooo worth it…

But no matter the outcome, this will be my last attempt.  So tomorrow, on the way to work, I will drop off one more letter to the legendary Yogi Berra.  This is the third such letter that I have written in the last 6-7 weeks to him, and if all goes well, I will be pleasantly surprised.  If not, I can say that I gave it my all and move on.

Come on Yogi, the ’30-YOC’ readers are all crossing our fingers!!!

Yogi Berra, Strike Two!!!

Yogi Berra, Strike Two!!!

Oh man.  What to do, What to do…

You may recall that I sent a baseball and generous donation to Yogi Berra a few months ago in hopes of adding his autograph to my collection.  That attempt resulted in getting my baseball back, unsigned, with a price list of what it would cost to get my baseball or other items signed by the legendary Berra.

Almost immediately, the emails poured in.  Try this, Try that, Do this instead…

So, I took som advice, stepped up to the plate and send Mr. Berra another item – this time a baseball card.  Off it went, and now just under three weeks later, my baseball card has return and again it is unsigned.  And again, a price list accompanied my return.

$100 for an autograph on a baseball card is what they’re asking for.  If I wasn’t going to fork over $100 to get my ball signed, I am surely not going to send over a Benjamin Franklin to have Yogi sign my card.

So again, I ask – What to do, What to do…

TTM Failure: New York Yankees Legend Yogi Berra

TTM Failure:  New York Yankees Legend Yogi Berra

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce that the first autograph I went after in 2011 was a failure.

You see, I have wanted to add Yogi Berra’s autograph to my collection for quite some time.  I know that he is a tough in-person autograph, and the fact that he has probably not visited South Florida too much hurts my chances of meeting him in person ever further.

So, as soon as I unwrapped 5 brand new Rawlings baseballs on Christmas, I immediately set one aside for Yogi.

And today when I got home from work, my first envelope had arrived.  And the postal service failed to post-mark the stamps on the outside of the envelope so I had no clue as to where this one had traveled from.

I tore into the mailer hoping to find a freshly signed ball.  Instead, what I received was my baseball(unsigned), my original letter and donation, and a preicelist from the people who manage this process for Mr. Berra.

It now costs $100 to get an autograph on your baseball from Yogi Berra.  I guess that the $50 I enclosed was not even enough to get a ‘Yogi’.  $100 is steep, a little too steep for me regardless of who the player is…

Maybe next time!!

TTM Failure – Mark Prior

TTM Failure – Mark Prior

I know that Prior spent a ton of time with the Padres during and after Spring Training last year.  So when camp opened up this year I figured I would send a few cards his way in hopes of obtaining an autograph or two.  While I had not seen his name on their ‘active roster’ I do know that many big leaguers and former players still make the trip to get work in.

Unfortunately, my mail was never claimed and I got this back:

My letter to Mark Prior.  Just sitting there alone in Arizona.  Wanting to be loved and taken in.  But it was just left there unclaimed.  Sad, huh??  😦

If anyone knows of Prior’s whereabouts, I would love to re-send this out to him.  I haven’t seen his name pop up on any of the Spring Training reports that I read or any of the autograph sites that I visit.

If you know where Mark Prior is, please help!  Thanks!
