Happy Birthday Will Clark!!!

Happy Birthday Will Clark!!!

Will Clark turns 48 years old today.

Noted as having one of the sweetest swings in the game during his playing days, Will Clark became an instant favorite to many baseball fans due to his incredible talent and personality.  On the field he was a perennial MVP candidate that flirted with .300 every year.  Off the field, he was a loud-mouthed, opinionated player who you couldn’t wait to her what he was going to say next.

Today, Will Clark is employed by the San Francisco Giants.  I sent a card of him to Spring Training hoping for an autograph – Wish me luck!!

Happy Birthday Mr. Clark!!

2013 Topps Archives ‘Tallboys’ Subset – Will Clark

With the new 2013 Topps Archives baseball card set release, the ‘Mini Tallboys’ subset is easily one of the best parts of the issue.

The cards from this subset offer a very basic, but throwback feel that screams vintage. The set is 40 cards deep and offers a nice mixture of current players, stars from the 1980′s, and Hall of Fame legends.

This is the Will Clark card from the set:

CLARK

As a baseball fan that was completely immersed in the sport in the late 1980’s, Will Clark was very hard to ignore.  His personality drew your attention, and he sweet left-handed swing put you in a feeling of awe.

Will’s nickname was ‘The Thrill’ and I will never forget the show that he put on in 1989 during the 5-game NLCS versus the Chicago Cubs – 13 hits in 20 at-bats good for a .650 average, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 8 runs scored, and 8 RBI.

The show was unreal.  A true ‘Thrill’ to behold!!!

So what do you get for someone like Will for his birthday?  He already has 2 great nicknames – ‘The Thrill’ & ‘The Natural’.  He’s got a Gold Glove award, a Silver Slugger award, several All-star game appearances, and even a trip to the World Series.  Hmmm… this one is tough.

Wait a minute, I know what to get him.  Let’s give Will his own reality TV show.  Yeah, yeah.  And let’s film it while he’s with the Giants during Spring Training.  I’m sure his instruction would be incredible as well as laughable!!!!

Happy Birthday Will!!
