Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Sticker

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Sticker

I’ve mentioned before that both of my boys are piecing together the 2014 Topps sticker sets.

Each one is doing very well with their albums and I imagine that they are both down to needing less than 20 stickers to complete the full set.

We’ve gone through a ton of packs of these stickers.  and we have even started buying singles from Sportlots.com.

As for the extras, I have been selling them on Ebay in larger bulk lots.  And I also kept a few for myself.

Like this one of my favorite current major league player…

Hey, I can have a few too, can’t I….

Happy Birthday Giancarlo Stanton!!

Happy Birthday Giancarlo Stanton!!

Giancarlo Stanton turns 25 years old today.

In a very short amount of time, Giancarlo Stanton has become the centerpiece of the Miami Marlins run production squad.  Batting anywhere from 3-5 in the batting order, Stanton has been the team’s main source of home run and RBI production.

While some may label Stanton as a ‘Slugger’ due to his ability to hit the ball 500+ feet, he has also shown the ability to learn while at the plate and use what he is learning to become a more patient and skilled hitter.  In 2011, Stanton hit .262 in 150 games.  In 2012, he hit .290 in 123 games.  And in a down year in 2013, he hit .249.  He rebounded in 2014 with his best offensive season to date going .288/37/105 in his most consistent year.

The sport took notice of Stanton’s all-around game in 2014.  And I cannot wait to see what he does as a follow-up in 2015.

Happy Birthday Giancarlo.  Keep doing what you’re doing!!

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Chrome – Base

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Chrome – Base

Here is another sweet card that I picked up in that 2014 Topps Chrome purchase.

img030

It’s the base card of #27, Giancarlo Stanton!

As you may know, I have been building the Stanton rainbow from this year’s Topps release and it features the same image as this Chrome card does.  Does that mean that I get to include this one in that project too?

Either way, yes or no, I am loving how strongly  the colors from this card stand out.  That Chrome finish really allows for the Marlins team colors to shine!

Lot Of 2 Giancarlo Stanton 2011 Topps ‘Factory Set Limited Edition’ Cards

Lot Of 2 Giancarlo Stanton 2011 Topps ‘Factory Set Limited Edition’ Cards

I have no idea how limited or rare these cards are, but after picking up and adding large stacks of 2013 and 2014 Giancarlo Stanton baseball cards to my collection, it was nice to find a few older cards for my collection.

And when I say older, I am going all of the way back to 2011…

These 2 cards are tagged as ‘Factory Set Limited Edition’ from the 2011 Topps set.

Here is the first one I grabbed:

And here is the second one:img858

As you can see, the card is the same as the base card from the set except for the extra Silver-stamped ‘Factory Set Limited Edition’ message that rolls right above the player’s name.

A lot has changed since 2011 – The Florida Marlins are now the Miami Marlins complete with new team colors and logos.  And Mike Stanton is now Giancarlo Stanton.

But one thing has not changed – my love for this team and the for players that aim to get them back to the World Series!  Go FISH!!

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter – Mini Base

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter – Mini Base

Wow, it looks like my scanner did a little bit of ‘border trimming’ on this one…

But, trust me, the card is in tact.  And it is the base-mini card of Giancarlo Stanton from the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter set.

I’m gonna have to do something about how I am scanning my ‘minis’ as this seems to always happen since my scanner went through a program update.

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Heritage – Black Border

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Heritage – Black Border

While feverishly seeking the Blue-bordered card of Giancarlo Stanton from the 2014 Topps Heritage baseball card set, I absent-mindedly forgot that he also has a Black-bordered card in the set too.

Well, thankfully my Ebay search is broad enough to cover up my ‘brain farts’ as I was able to easily snag this card of Giancarlo with no bidding competition.

And yes, I am still actively seeking the Blue version…

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Panini Prizm – Blue Parallel

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Panini Prizm – Blue Parallel

Here is a beautiful card for you to enjoy on this Sunday evening.

The card is from the 2014 Panini Prizm baseball card set and it is the ‘Blue Parallel’ version of the base card.

Each Blue card was limited to just 75 copies.  The one I picked up is stamped as 33/75.

Have a look:

The Blue looks nice – bright and bold!

I know that there are a lot more parallel colors of this card out there for me to target.  Hopefully, in time, I can get a few more for my collection.

Time will tell.

Lots of shiny Chrome on this one…

This is Giancarlo Stanton’s card from the 2013 Panini Prizm ‘Superstar Spotlight’ baseball card.

I have scanned this card into my surface area machine, and this card is covered by 38% Giancarlo, 60% Chrome, and 2% other.

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Archives – Gold – 1980 Topps Design

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Topps Archives – Gold – 1980 Topps Design

FINALLY!!!

This one has been a long time coming, months in fact.  When the Topps Archives release came, I knew that I would want to try to grab some of the parallel cards of my favorite cards from the set.  But, I never knew it would be as tough as it has been.

I was able to piece together the Fergie Jenkins rainbow much easier, but trying to do the same for the Giancarlo Stanton rainbow has left me in fits.

Yes, nabbing the base card was easy.  But, that was it!

Until now, that is.  As I have finally added card #2 to my collection – the Gold card.  Each Gold card is stamped to 199 copies.  My card of Giancarlo is number 161/199.

Have a look:

And now, I need just one more.  Time for me to dig in and seek out the toughest one in the set – the Silver Foil version.

Wish me luck.

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Panini Prizm – Digi-Camoflage Parallel

Giancarlo Stanton 2014 Panini Prizm – Digi-Camouflage Parallel

Here is a pretty neat one:

img633

I have yet to truly dig deep into the 2014 Panini Prizm set, but when I found this card online for just $1.00 with free shipping, I scooped it up for my Stanton PC.

I really like the look of the card, and the digi-camo style of this one is a unique spin on a colored parallel.  I know that Panini has a handful of other border colors within this set too – and in time, I will attempt to grab a few more of them.

So far, I have the base, Blue, and now the Prizm versions.  Hopefully I can grab a few others.  And for $1.00 I would certainly make that happen!
