Jim Palmer Was Quite The Spokesman Back In The Day…
The expression goes something like this – “The ladies want to be with him, and the guys want to be like him”.
And that is probably why Jim Palmer was a very successful spokesman during his playing days, and even after.
A peek at some fun commercials I found featuring Mr. Palmer….
Good stuff right there!!!
Yay! Jim Palmer still does color for about 2/3 of the Oriole television broadcasts each season (Mike Bordick does the rest). He’s actually very very (very) good. He knows his baseball history, is quick with a personal memory that’s relevant without being arrogant, and can teach you about baseball without being annoying, condescending or a windbag. Wish I could have seen him in his playing days! These old commercials made my day … thanks! 🙂
Peacefulhands- Thanks for the great comment. I, too, wish that I could have experienced his playing days. He was unreal – and on par with the best of his era (if not better).
